In PVP the first guys i am targeting are the small and ugly guys, because.... because I can.
I think all those guys building a super tiny char wont play em for very long, because they look f**** ugly and alot of the "look how cool my charakter looks like" thing in the game will be lost.

This, unfortunately, will slow you down.

Your brain will notice the large people first. It’s instinctive. Bigger threats are usually closer or...well...bigger and as such more of a threat.

Intentionally prioritising the little guys requires an additional level of logical control that will put you behind people with equal reaction times.

This quirk of human perception causes alot of problems for motorbikes on the road. People notice them last/think they are further away because they are smaller. Its the cause of quite a few car-on-bike accidents.

Its up to you. Just be honest about why you made the choice and don't rag on the people who are more driven or relaxed then you are about winning
So those who roleplay ARENT gamers then?

Odd. I could have sworn thats exactly what they were. Though I've been wrong in the past.

I hope whoever is picking targets for my enemy is as dumb as you. Fail-tabbing through 30+ people is one of the more amusing things I have heard people coming up with here. It sounds like something someone who has only experianced silly little instanced WoW-PvP would come up with.

Being small saves you in one time and place only - when there are 30+ other people around you and the person calling targets needs to leave on char-models for fast identification and needs to click to pick out the targets straight away, because you can be damn sure the other team is going to have someone click-targeting/branding your healers for immediate spike attacks (while you’re still fail-tabbing through the enemy tanks).

I don't want to make a habit of zerging, but I accept that the occasional zerg-surfing is going to be a requirement and in this situation the team of little people will have the advantage, as the other side’s competent target branders will be less likely to spot them first and more likely to notice the GIANT healer rolled by someone dribbling about aesthetics.

It has nothing to do with game mechanics and everything to do with human perception
Look, someone who has done all those things he stated above all the while assuming that what he said hasnt been said before!
Original you sir! Original.

Next time, stick with the second post. It actually pertains to point of this entire thread. Your first post there... does nothing but make you look like a jackass. I know what you are trying to say, and I agree with you. But learn how to get to your point across without trying to be overly witty at the same time. You look and sound like a complete moron when you do that.
Case in point: the time I wasted everyone here with all the text above this paragraph. Feels good doesnt it? To waste your time like that.

First of all: Small characters look GOOD !
I enjoy how all you _big_ guys are raging though lol
It is very obvious you already experienced the annoyance of small characters yourself while probably running around as a huge-size caster or healer named "Primetarget".
This is a PVP GAME. Dont be hating because you were not clever enough to think twice at character creation.

Of course there is an advantage. Mouse targetting in Aion is annoying enough(more than the TAB catastrophe even) but IF you have to do it small characters are even harder to hit.
Also in any form of PvP you will have an easier time to go unnoticed. If you try to sneak up to a flank you can do it a lot better than a giant character.

On top of that there is no collision detection in the game so you have an easier time to hide within other bigger characters (or any non solid texture really)

Not to forget you are able to slip under obstacles bigger characters will get stuck.

Also big= danger while tiny= lol look how cute.
lets not forget human psyche. Big characters will be focused first no matter what people say in this thread.

Overall just as always in any pvp scenario - yes smaller characters have an advantage.

Just browse through this thread, see how many people are raging over them :-)

I agree though, smallest possible characters look ridiculous, I would never choose to play the "tiny" sized characters in Aion. A little less than small is perfect for me as a ranger though

And my teammates never thought I am retarded for playing a small character- or would let me die even. They think I look cute and most of them know better than letting one of their quality players die when it counts <3

My cleric is a smaller size than most; I'd say the slider for her was around 20-25%. I'm definitely not as small as the uber-midgets, but there are characters about twice the size of mine. It helps being a smaller-ish healer for reasons that others have mentioned; smaller targets are inherently targeted less than bigger ones.

I get a little wierded out by little targets. Tend to get an itchy trigger finger for them (so to speak). My char is normal size. I didnt mess with the slider, because I saw no reason to. I get the reasoning why people choose the smaller characters. My issue is with the abnormally small ones. It has to be difficult (and not in the 'bettering my abilities' avenue) to play a character so small that an ore deposit towers over you (Yes... I have seen them that small. Reference the post before the previous one about a guy named Buggar).

Theres a difference between using small toons for the advantage, and just being plain silly. Though I still defend everyones right to do as they please and utilize the char creation to its fullest advantage. Doenst mean I wont /rage on it though.

:: shiver :: creepy SOB's...

I just think it shows a lack of faith in their ability to actually PvP effectively, if they resort to every gimmick-y advantage.

I have no issue with those who have small(ish) characters, or design their chars to look like dwarves as some of them look pretty cool. The issue what most people have is with the cool leet kiddies who shoves all the sliders to the left for the sole purpose of a PVP advantage (and slap afro's on them, because afro's are cool right?).Not only are they so ridiculously tiny and poorly made, but your new shiny armor you bought/crafted/looted looks like **** on you, well done. Those types are the ones i will single out in fights and take down.

Our main assist never had a problem targeting "key" targets which seems to be of a problem to your targeting skills. Please keep failing more.

so... is it really only me that targets based on priority of class and the specific situation we are in during the battle (because no its not always the right option to instantly target a healer) and not on something like size? If so think ill be average height should avoid all of you completely.

My keymap is setup so i can quickly cycle between players while still being able to move and use skills which imo is infinitely better than click-to-target, if there are 30+ people about I am sure if I am relying on click to target I am likely to have problems at least occasionally regardless unless they are not moving.. if they are not moving then height isnt an issue as its not like I would have to click on a specific point on their body.

In small scale PvP targeting is not a problem. In large scale PvP I turn off character models and all red names look the same to me so character size is not a problem either.

GL with you retarded looking characters.

Your left hand doesn't count as a "teammate", and it doesn't think you look cute, shorty.

Assumption! I dont believe in faith, however I am well aware of how effectively I pvp.
I do enjoy the thought of making some of the racists go /cry and /nerdrage like the little girls they are though, when dancing on their corpse.

Actually we do consider my left hand as a separate teammember. I am usually doing the work of 3 guys while occupying only one character slot so we just separate the "instrument of god" into my left hand, right hand and my superior mind. I was talking about my friends and guildmates though.

Dont give up, work on your playerskill and your attitude and you might just find out what I am talking about =)
