Downloaded from the link in your other post , but its telling my directX is already equivalent to this download yet i am still getting the error. =(

Well since that link I can't guarantee myself I've dug up the one I used on my old PC (which defo had outdated DX9.0c):
Download DirectX 9.0c (full package) - the latest version of Direct X

If that doesn't work, can you try deinstalling DirectX9.0c through add/remove programs and then installing it again from the link above? It's possible your current install of DX is messed up or a dll is missing/corrupted, and since the launcher uses a single dll file to verify your DX9 install, it's possible this is why it's failing.

If it still won't work after all I posted above can you please post the last half the launcher log file? You can find it in your NCsoft/Launcher folder, the log file is called "NCApplicationLog.log".

It's this bit of the log file I'm talking about:

2009-07-02 13:20:47.2187 : 1 : Info : Checking DirectX Version : 9.0c Or Higher (C:\WINDOWS\system32\d3d9.dll - 5.3.2600.2180)

That's what it should say if it passes the DX9 reqs.

Download above did not work ,and directx is not appearing on add/remove program. Any idea on why that is occurring?

Is the log you asked for

dxdiag is saying i have directx9 do i need to reinstall aion client or something?

Ok, your DirectX9.0c is definitely out of date if it's showing as

d3d9.dll - 5.3.1.904
versus my:
d3d9.dll - 5.3.2600.2180

I'll check on my old PC in a minute, check that that one also matches my new PC's dx9 version.
update: yep, on the old PC directx9.0c is also version "d3d9.dll - 5.3.2600.2180"

That's the version you should have and the version that that link I gave you should install - since it isn't it sounds like something is screwed up with your DX9, so I still suggest completely reinstalling dx9.

And sorry I forgot that directx isn't so easily uninstallable as to just use add/remove programs. There's a guide here on how to do it without too much annoying fiddling:

Just uninstalled i believe but now get an error whenever i try to reinstall any directx items saying to check directx.log or DXError.log btu no idea where to find them =(

Anyone know why I'm having problems with the launcher/updating Aion? I've somehow got Aion to work twice before but it stops working everytime they release an update..

I've gotten it to download the update this time but now it won't apply it even when I extracted the files and did it myself like last time it's not working now..

My launcher won't work correctly which I think might be part of the problem? I'm not sure cause I've gotten Aion to work even without the launcher working... it just looks like this - and doesn't do anything when I click update.

I get this error everytime I click 'play now' to launch the game but it eventually launches like 5minutes later... I took this ss launching guild wars since aions broke atm but it still does the same thing..

And this error I got 4354352525235234634 times trying to install the game and now everytime I close the launcher to system tray and pop it back up I get this.

Uninstalling just seemed to cause more problems as i cant download any directx version at all now any help?

What does it say when you try to run a dxdiag? (Start -> Run -> type in dxdiag and hit enter). It should have the basic version of dx8 installed now.

DXError.log and Directx.log should be in the C://Windows folder.

Also you may want to run the inbuilt windows file check system by going to Start -> Run and typing: sfc /scannow

was showing no version installed just got one of the installers to work finally and its showing back up to 9.0b

LilaMae, have you tried uninstalling the NCSoft launcher then reinstalling it? I would suggest that as a first step if you haven't done this already. You can get a new launcher from --> here.

Also make sure to choose NO when it asks you if you want to remove any installed games! Then reinstall the launcher, and if Aion doesn't show up, r-click on it and choose "properties" then navigate to your NCsoft/Aion/Bin32 folder and select the file called "Aion.bin" and press ok.

See if it will update after this.

Ok, that's good at least. Try to see if you can find any redistributable directx9.0c downloader to work now - or go to the site of Microsoft and use their directX updater. The reason I usually recommend redistributables is because it's often the microsoft directx updater that won't work and claims incorrectly that you have the most recent version. Just go figure that you're the one person having trouble even with the redistributable version.

I hope you can find one that works.

I've reinstalled the launcher so many times.. I've never had anything show up in the grey box either. I'll try to reinstall it one more time.

If it doesn't work try downloading the full installer from Fileplanet, here: FilePlanet: Aion: Tower of Eternity Game Client

It might not get you ingame on time, but since the launcher is giving you such troubles with updating, reinstalling from the fileplanet file might get it working faster. Also once downloaded the fileplanet installer you can keep on your PC for whenever you do need to reinstall, which should save a lot of needless downloading.

Try doing a system file check with sfc /scannow as i described above. It really sounds like something's gone fundamentally wrong in your windows or system files.
