Which class is best to solo PVE till end game?

Of the 20 and under leveling I did during last weekend's beta, it seemed for me that my Assassin killed faster than my Sorc and SM and definitely faster than Templar, Cleric, and Chanter.

For me, total time to kill:

1. Assassin (with a skill crit or two)/Sorc (with no resists)
2. SM/Chanter (good survivability and damage)
3. Cleric (excellent survivability, but lacking a bit of damage though I could take mobs several levels higher)
4. Templar (excellent survivability, very little downtime, but seemed the longest to kill).

For me, ease of leveling:

1. Assassin (3 second sit animation to top off hps or a hp treatment)/Cleric (regen mana sitting every few kills or use a mana treatment)
2. Templar (use a hp treatment every few kills and you're golden)
3. SM/Chanter (SM seemed to run out of mana and managing a pet at times can be arduous; Chanter did a good bit more damage than Cleric and still had great survivability)
4. Sorc (lots of kiting and just felt too squishy with a resist).

Of course, I have no clue what play is like after 20, but honestly it felt like a pretty smooth ride 'til then with any of the characters. None felt underwhelming which was surprising and I think it's the main reason we're going to see a lot of healers at launch when you usually don't with many MMOs.

I have a level 25 SM and a level 22 Gladiator, and my Spiritmaster is amazing. I have OK gear but at level 23 I was grinding level 26-27 mobs (Catarids?) or something like that and I would have downtime but the Xp would be soo much more and it was worth it. Spiritmasters are not hard to play and are very fun. My gladiator is horrible to say the least. Go with what is fun but Sm are very good at solo PvE thus making a quick levelling

My 26 chanter can tank 4-6 yellows at a time no problem with green gear. Can pretty much chain pull non stop as well. I mana treatment here and there but not really needed most of the time since I rest while grabbing a fresh beer/coffee/smoke etc. My staff is only +2, 24 green. no upgraded armor. (Though I just upgraded to blue pants and gauntlets so i'm tearing apart Orange mobs in the abyss)

Again some mobs are harder to tank then others but in most cases pretty easy unless you get multiple stunning mobs then it gets tricky. I must agree in the end i had less downtime then my SM and I too can take mobs 4+ levels higher easily. Again some folks are more talented with caster/melee/hybrid then others so just go with what makes you more comfortable.
