Glad you got it sorted out OP, and you and your wife are enjoying the game.
I have to say, before reading this, anyone posting about being banned seemed suspicious to me...that perhaps they were banned for unsavoury activities, but in truth, THIS thread has shown me that 'innocent' people are being banned, and that is unsettling. Its understandable that NCSoft may...or may not (its hard to say since I see the same old bots week after week) ban people who doing things they shouldn't in this game, however...in the case of the person who mentioned it...banning the accounts of 'innocent' people is one thing, but then stripping them of everything, leaving their characters with nothing is not on. __________________

I was hit in the first mass ban that happened and I have yet to get an actual response as to why I was banned. I haven't done anything wrong according to the EULA that would result in my account getting banned....yet I was. You have to read carefully in the EULA as well - NCSoft clearly states that they can ban/suspend accounts simply based on your IP if they feel it falls into a section of IPs that are being used for RMT or botting. Basically, you're constantly gambling with NCSoft to see if you're account stays open or gets banned - hopefully you always win, but for those that lose and do get banned....well, tough ****. It states in the EULA that NCSoft can do what they want, when they want. I'm not at home so I can't just dig through my saved logs for the response I finally got from NCSoft - I kept pestering them about why I was banned and they kept telling me that they can't divulge their detection secrets, over and over again this went around for a couple weeks... I finally got a response that stated some people were banned for 1 thing, others for 2, others for 3 things they did and some for more, but they could NOT tell me any specifics. My tickets (yes I have two) are still open in regards to wanting to find out why I was banned - they're still open and unanswered from my last response to them about wanting to know what I was banned for. After that long winded explanation, here's the gist of it all: Don't hold your breath and expect to find out what you were banned for, they won't tell. They'll just blanket your reason for being banned because you did "something" wrong. Also, don't respond to those that say you must have done something; bought gold, you were botting, harassing others....just ignore them. They don't want to believe anything other than their own thoughts - trust me, I tried. It's good to see things worked out in your favor in the end. I still find it hard to believe anyone is ever totally innocent with the banning. Chances are you did something to set off their ban. Like what are the names of the characters on the accounts, are they gibberish letters no one can pronounce? Do you play as a gladiator that uses a polearm? Do you kill stuff thats 3 levels lower than you with that gladiator? Do you put your wifes character on auto follow? Does your character stutter when doing the herb heal thingie? Do you have a ton of gold but alot of xp debt and your soul sickness timer is close to 4 minutes? If at least 2 of these apply to you then yes you are a bot and got banned for it.
Edit: Just saw the last response from the OP. OK now this is the very first real innocent ban, which technically wasnt a ban just a billing hic up. This happens all the time in city of heroes where new players have credit card issues due to being outside of the USA, have a cc company with weird policies or they spend over the daily or monthly limit cc that ncsoft allows. Killing stuff lower than you doesn't make you a bot. Having another player put follow on you doesn't make you a bot. I have guildies that don't heal their XP debt, and have lots of kinah. They are not bots. Bots are investigated when they are reported, and are actioned after they have been shown to be using a 3rd party program to provoke their actions. They do NOT ban people for being a Glad, or having XP debt, or just having lots of kinah. Nor do they use a combination of any of the above as evidence of botting. Don't spread silly rumors please, all of that is complete nonsense. And there have been multiple players accidentally and innocently caught up in a ban wave that had nothing to do with billing issues. __________________

I'm glad to see that I was not the only one that was falsely banned... Well, I haven't played Aion in 2-3 weeks and when I decided to start playing again last Thursday (Oct 5th), I could not get in. It wasn't until the next day when I decided to try logging into my Guild Wars account did I find out the reason for the banning: "Payment Fraud". So I decided to check my online credit card statement and found out that they did charge my card for the three months plan, I decided to contact their account support and got in contact with someone. After proving that I own the account the last e-mail I got stated:

If you haven't been contacted again, re-submit your ticket (write a reply on your current ticket) and let them know you haven't been contacted by anyone yet. Sometimes, from what I've seen, tickets can get overlooked or missed in the shuffle of things. |

I personally know someone who was banned in that very first wave, and he did nothing wrong. Nothing. He didn't even have a Glad, or a nonsense name, or too much kinah, or any of the other indicators you keep spouting will get you banned. He was mistakenly banned. He contacted NCsoft right away, they rechecked his account, and unbanned his account with an apology for their mistake. Billing was not even involved, so it had nothing to do with that. So seriously, this subforum is for helping other players. Don't post your nonsensical unfounded tripe theories on what gets a person banned as fact. Because they are very far from factual in any way, shape or form. Thanks. __________________
