A popular complaint is that AION has very 'cartooney' style graphics, and I have found this too. There is lots of puffs and it looks to me like I'm playing Flyff. I am just wondering if it's the same for Asmo's? Is the graphics still somewhat... fairy like?

I find they did a good job at mixing it. I think most mobs are pretty creative. No you wont see wildlife like in VG, but at the same time its not bubbly graphics like wow.
I also found so far (im new) is that theres creatures in this game that I have never seen before. Which keeps thing interesting. |

I don't see much "cartoony" graphics in this game. The visual style is fine.
If you are complaining about the fantasy elements, of course they are going to be "fairy"-like. Giant mushrooms, talking trees, and unreal animals are all made-up and like they come from a... fairy tale! In any case, there's not much anyone can do about it, the game's already made. |

i dont find it cartoony at all, i think the vivid color artstyle is rather cool looking. if you want cartoony check out WoW and a million other games that could straight up be a saturday morning series.

I think we need more detail about what you mean by "Fairy-like" It is a game about angels kicking the **** into dinosaurs, as well as each other; that's all there is to it.
If you're assuming that just because the Asmo's are bathed in darkness that the graphic style will all the sudden change, it won't; it will only be a darker tone overall. If you really want some comparison to the style, it's much like Anime or Manga as some has mentioned. Typically in said media, animations (such as emotes or fighting animaitons) tend to be a bit over the top, and slashes will seem extra-flashy, and some emotes and spells will seem a bit more -ly. If you want a game comparison, Final Fantasy fits the bill nicely graphic-wise (again, typical eastern fantasy game)Tbh, it seems like you want to fool yourself into liking the graphics so you won't complain about them, but deep down, they are annoying to you (Just too over the top and flashy, when what you really want is realism). Just because the Elyos are goody-two-shoes doesn't mean the graphics become all cartoony, its the same on both side, one is just brighter than the other. And if your complaining about mystical graphics, well, again, it's an eastern fantasy game about angels, you really shouldn't be expecting something radically different. Also, I think most consider the graphics in Aion to be it's high point above most everything else when compared to other games in it's genre. |

The problem with your question is the wording.
A better question would have been "I'm playing Elyos, and there are a lot of bright, shiny fantasy elements that are very cliche and remind me of cartoons, are the themes in Asmodae similar?" to answer your question, the first zone in Elysea, Poeta, is VERY bright, cheery, cuddly, etc, while the rest are grittier and less "fluffy" the art style continues to be present in Elysea throughout. there will alwasy be a bit more light and fluff in Elysea, due to the lore and Elysea being "bathed in light" while Asmodae is a cold rock covered in shadow. I haven't played Asmodian all that much yet, I only barely started an asmodian character in the Open Beta, so I can't speak for all of asmodae (I have also seen a bit of morheim) but it does have a darker tone, but the art style remains similar. Here is a link that could help you out (Aion™ Online :: Videos) there's several videos featuring "tours" of the zones in Asmodae and elysea. __________________ ![]() Kylarra Cleric ~ Aeren Spirit Master ~ Ride Templar ~ Keirii Sorcerer My favorite webcomic |
