Thanks for sticky!

Also: updated with a few notes about solo leveling (5.4). I could use some help on more tips.

I also added another video I just uploaded, no stream but the server should allow for fast downloads:
Aion CB5 Ranger Ganking
It's mostly solo ganking during CB5 in the Abyss level 25-30.

If you guys have any additions let me know.

Thanks for the info, is the proc rate really only 10% for the other chain skill that does more damage....
And the trap that says it holds them in the air, is that like the assassin and gladiator one that looks like a cage of lighting,
cause in all the videos I've seen I haven't seen a ranger do it?

Thanks!

Awesome guide, but it leaves me with a few questions.

1) So is the Ranger a class that requires constant mobility to be at peak efficiency? Or if I roll with a group, can I just stand still and unleash some hell?
2) How often do you find yourself using Jump-Shot? That seems like something that could get old fast.

There is another title for Elyos that's pretty good:

Savior of Elim Forest, +36 Maximum HP, +36 Maximum MP, +5% Speed - from Three Kures Brothers - Quests - Aion

Well - PvP or PvE ?
I guess depending on your party mates and several other aspects like dmg output, pvp rank, equip etc you could stay still in pvp.. but I wouldn't do that. Consider the ranger as a hit+run guerilla kind of class, you even got hide to well.. hide.
And unleash hell from that just to run when they come up to you :P
In PvE you should be able to stand where you are if the tank is decent, but you could also take over the roll of an "offtank" - in the way of kiting added mobs away from the low hp or heal classes. In the end you have to find your own playstyle.

Well quite often, though not really planned to jump shot, but it comes just naturally if you already have played a class like the ranger (hunter from WoW for example) - at least I can't stay still at one spot.. yes I have to admid... I mostly jump as I walk :/ my bad

Trying to decide on ranger or templar so I just have a few questions

1. How many instant bow shots do we have that do no require you to stand there? What I am wondering is if you are nearly dead and so are they can you just keep kiting and pop off a few instants enough to kill them without stopping and getting killed if they get close enough.

2. Is the 10m range on some attacks as bad as it sounds? I just keep thinking with like the extending weapons and such that once more melees get those skills every time you try to kite around someone as soon as you stop to use a 10m attack they only have 5m to cover before they can start hitting you with those weapons. So everytime you stop basically you will be getting hit. Is it that bad or does it just seem like it would be?

3. In regards to the 10m range. I thought I read the max range on bow is 25m. Is it 25m at the beginning or is it 25m after you get the boost bow range skills you get as you level. Just wondering because the skills list the 10m 15m or other rangers. Is that considering the range boost or not that you get at level 25. Or does that skill just apply to auto attacks. I am confused on the bow ranges atm with that skill whether or not the ranges people are saying and showing is figuring that in.
Do you have many methods of breaking cc or escaping people? Seems like once you get higher level and so many cc is available. That everytime you try to run someone will have some type of snare or slow on you.

4. Another question I just thought of is the skill that when your in melee range stuns the target and knocks you back 25m. How dependable is that skill. If it is a stigma what other stigmas must you use to get it.

5. Also is there a link that shows the different stigma trees. If I am confused on this I am sorry. But from what I have understood certain stigmas must have other stigmas equipped in order to equip them. Where is the information that shows which stigmas allow you to equip other stigmas.

Thanks for any help ahead of time.

sorry for disregarding your post at this time custos - but can anybody change this threads topic to "READ THIS nyerking FAQ FIRST PLZ"? It's just annoying to read the same questions again and again every day in a new topic.
Most of them can be answered by just readin through this faq or the one from Thats Too Bad regarding PvP issues.
And yes, I've been welcomed to the interwebs years ago. I know its just normal here, but that doesn't mean we can't even try changing it -.-

So, I'm new to this whole "kiting" business - never played a class before that had to use it, but I really do want to try. So, I have a newbie question, I'm sure.

Whenever kiting, you're moving backwards, yes? Well then wouldn't that affect DPS negatively, like stated above? or moving backwards and standing still then? is there a way to kite and get the moving forward damage boost?

I personnally use click to move, this way, you don't lose any dps, neither speed. The big con, is that everyone will ignore you since "it's bad", and the other one is that flying fights are harder (nowhere to click, so stick with wasd xD) =p
And to compare with the vid kirua posted on Jumpshot thread, I find it way more dynamic than using wasd like it is showed.
But I'm used of click to move since I played L2 so it's also easier to me.

Backpedaling isn't good enough because you lose some dps (not that much but some =p), and overall, speed. With backpedaling you can be sure that you'll take hits. Strafing is quite better but still under click imho. If you're sticked with wasd, you can turn the view to skill, it seems it's the better it's possible to do with wasd. Look at the vid kirua linked in Jumpshot thread, it may help you.

Yep, just slam your head on the keyboard and something will die. Either your enemy, your character, your computer, or you.

I turn away from the mob, run forward, jump, then turn towards it and open fire while still in the air, then turn back away from it and move forward.

Jump shots.

In an attempt to better explain how to perform them, I drew a picture in paint.

The picture shows a character jumping, and (to my best knowledge, having played a ranger to 22) has areas labeled in regards to what the player should be doing in order to pull off a jump shot.

In addition, if you are shooting from auto attacks as you hit the ground, the jump shot will fail.
