Most newer games prevent bunnyhopping tho, by implementing something that stops the player from continuosly jumping, such as a time interval between jumps. I'd prefer this, rather than to see a city filled with anti-gravity boot wearing toons.

I love to jump, I always jump while kiting, I always jump while melee fighting. I don't know why, it does give a minor bonus if done right in a game (such as stunning a person, jumping over them, and then backstabbing). It is just a personality thing I think, not that I am uber hyper in real life but in game I like to be the exact opposite of me in real life (if it was like me in real life, my character would never leave his house).

Rangers will have the distance advantage through over the melee classes seeing as how they can shoot/fly farther/ shoot/ fly farther/ etc.. but jumping around in circles around someone can and will definately pose a benefit to the player. Its a rule of combat too. If you cant see it, you cant hit/cast_on it. soo be prepared to see some bunny hoping maniac with melee and stigma'd range too.

Quote:
Kiting with jumping is a habit for players who roll a ranger, who feel it will give them the relevant distance between themselves and their enemy in order to win, whether it be mob or PC... If they die, they put it down to "jumping at the wrong time..", if they succeed, they put it down to "skill"... its all irrelevant. |

I'm a jumpaholic too. I just can't seem to help myself it doesn't matter what class I play. It's fun and it annoys people so why not. I refuse to play a mmo I can't jump in.

Part of it is twitch-gaming. Players who want to feel like they're interacting more with their character will either twitch their movements or jump around. Makes the experience feel more active, I suppose. It's the same reason that WC3 and SC players spam click around their screen while waiting on something.
