I would like to see an arrow system like there was in Ragnarok Online. Those who played the game know what i'm talking about. The idea is to make it possible to players to craft arrows with items dropped by mobs. Arrows from a certain material would be stronger, and you could even get elemental arrows from special drops. Certain mobs would drop specific items that, when used to make arrows, could grant you a "sleep arrow" or a "fire arrow".

Any comments regarding this?

I just love the idear of RO. I've never played it, but it sounds fun :-)
I like the idear of crafting arrows and finding stuff in mobs. My omly concern is, that ppl will quarrel about who gets the stuf, if there are more than 1 hunter on the team. And i hope the drop rate is high enough. i thing it won't be fun, if you have to farm for hours just to have certain drops you can make the arrows with. woudn't make sense... shooting arrows more than you can make... hope i make sense oO

I like the idea of arrow crafting, but aslong as they dont use the sleep arrow idea, gl hf getting away from a ranger if they can use those.

i enjoy crafting arrows. but wouldn't worry too much because i melee as well. if all i was going to do was ranged dmg i'd play a caster

The FFXI approach was definitely my favorite, arrows wise, and many other things. ^_^0 Having arrows enchanted with elements, or "spells" would be fun. As long as it didn't overshadow spell casters in anyway.

I like the way rangers work in GW, you can adapt that to expendable arrows. Elemental arrows can do damage according to the armor of the target, but never being bigger (unless specced to do big damage) than a caster.

Are Aion rangers "forced" to use a quiver? Like in WoW, quivers were always several slots to double the size of normal bags, so you were forced to pick up a quiver, not only to hold the trillion arrows you'd need, but for the 15% attack speed buff on the quiver itself. (And on elongated raids, like old school Molten Core, I remember packing a non-quiver bag full of arrows!)

Stacks of 1000 is pretty nice, but depending on attack speed, that could be good or bad. In WoW, with pretty slow attack speed for bigger crits, you generally stock up on 6k arrows before a raid...

I do agree. That's a nice way of making arrows. Specially 'cause it's also more realistic(why should bowless monsters drop arrows). So you could just make them out of their drops and whether decide you use that item to make an armor or to craft your arrows. It wasn't always bad items either - some been more worthful but you got good arrows out of them which you couldn't buy in a shop - afaik.
I also think it might be possible since maybe the armor crafting job would also make it possible to craft arrows?...

One thing that would be nice to avoid would be different qualities of arrows that increase or decrease damage. It makes you waste your time farming to make money to be able to hunt effectively and just ends up as a required money sink to be able to preform in pvp. At the same time some variety would be nice. Perhaps different arrows for different build types. Fire arrows? Piercing arrows? (that say went through your target and kept going)

It would be neat to be able to craft your own arrows with materials that dropped from mobs that an ranger normally would hunt.

Personally, I'm against making arrows gear-based like RO.

Perhaps buyable arrows at certain levels.

I'd rather have Ranger skills to light arrows on fire (think Ranger preparation skills in Guild Wars) than actually carrying lit arrows in my inventory.

Yeah thats a nice idea.

Just a small money sink to balance the fact that as a range class youre probably saving on other stuff melee are paying for.

I dont like arrows that give you more DPS. Personally I think L2's system is best, there are weapons for each grade, however archers can summon their own arrows from materials, while other classes that want to use a bow will need to find or buy them...Also the way the arrow looks in L2 is badass, it just flashes across the screen at a blistering speed, its not stuck with some flashy streak trailing it.

At least give a damage+ for effects. Like the silver bullet (arrow in this case) to a werewolf or vampire. Water to fire, etc. Like with Ragnarok. (I hated the fact you practically couldn't hit ghost with any type of arrow except one. x.x)
Just my opinion.
