Arrows?

I will definitely be rolling a Ranger alt. But, I was wondering, do you have to buy arrows? I know it adds a sense of realism, and also a gold sink, but I just don't like it. Something like Guild Wars might be nice, where the damage you deal is based on the bow and your skills...etc...
Sorry if this has been asked before. Any CBT'er who can answer this?

I'm pretty sure we've seen arrows stacked in an inventory already, and I think you can craft them. Not 100% sure though.

WoW's arrow system is not bad at all, and guild wars defenitly made it really easy, but I am 99.998% sure there will be arrows in the game. This of course opens up the possibilties of crafting all types of arrows! My favorite mmo so far in terms of my favorite use of an arrow system has been FFXI.

One thing I didnt like in WoW, was the arrows were just for damage. You couldnt have like a poison tipped arrow or something like that. What I did like in FFXI was how arrows were made to be more usable by both the Ranger, and other classes that could use a bow. For example, when I played thief for a bit, I would often keep Def Down arrows with me as well as sleep arrows. Put the guy to sleep incase of emergency or multiple pulls, and the def down arrows to obviously lower the defence of our target. It was always a nice extra element in the party that would enhance any class who brought a ranged weapon to the fight. Thinking of course of how assassins might be able to utilize such a system for 1 or two arrows a fight, and for Rangers I am thinking fire arrows or ice arrows as a special arrow you could craft.

Arrows = Potential fun and versatility ^_^

Ok, that helps. As long as their not over priced, and I can craft them easily, then I'll be happy.

There are arrows, 1000 arrows per stack.

Kyio: That system sounds very fascinating indeed...I kinda wish now I got into FFXI >_<...I don't mind if a game doesn't have PvP...As long as it is entertaining and brings a sense of skill to the game to stand above the rest..then It wouldn't matter to me =P. But I indeed like the idea of that arrow system, quite unique ^_^.

FFXI sounds like it is a great game (based on posts in this forum)

I completely agree. My current thoughts are that I might do just that as I wait for Aion to come out. The other thing I was thinking is getting back into L2 on a private server until Aion is released.

\It was said in another thread about elemental arrows and the such. It was being discussed how it might be best to leave elemental damage to the casters, and not open ideas about adding fire or ice attributes to things like weapons. Rethinking this today, I think adding elemental arrows would not be a bad idea at all, and these things would in no way take away from the casters' spells if done correctly. The damage scale would be on a much lower scale of course, but would be an added benefit to those who would either take the time to aquire/craft such arrows, or depending on how a system would in theory be set up for this, you could build your character up to a skill that could let you add magic to your arrows. Just an extra thought ^^

And we do have a while before Aion comes out, never too late to try out FFXI! w00t advertise!

I think someone said they have stacks of 1000 per slot, which for some reason gives me an idea that the arrows wont be an expensive portion. What I mean is if they have stacks of 1000 instead of stacks of 200 like in wow, or I think it was 99 in FFXI, gives you some insight into how many you will be using. FFXI you used comparitivley LOW ammount of arrows in a fight then you would in WoW. So if we have stacks of 1000 arrows, I am assuming they will be easier to obtain, or slightly expensive.

I didnt think WoW's arrows were expensive looking at it agian, as money was just so easy to obtain. Especially now where you can make over 200 gold in 1 hour with the daily quests alone. But I understand what you mean, it was still a decent portion of your money that went to an item that you could not fight without them. Always the "drawback" of playing a ranged class like a Ranger, but we do have our benefits

Yea, WoW's arrows were cheap, just fish for 10-15 minutes and cook 'em and there's all your arrows for a day.

mhh 1000 per stack sounds also not much if you think about that a ranger could have a much faster aspd as the hunter in wow... compared to Ragnarok Online where a hunter/sniper can reach up to 180 aspd by statting agility and dex, including buffs are 1000 arrows gone within 10 minutes ^^

somehow i like the system of RO, where you can stat your hunter in different way (stats not skills) one of it is to rise aspd to have a fast attack. The arrows itself giving just a decent amount of extra dmg but if you use the right elemental arrow for the monster your killing you get also a dmg bonus. Arrow Crafting is one of the most important skills of a hunter/sniper in RO.

But well in Wow a hunter attacks so fu slow but with a much higher dmg ^^
