Stealth is kinda dumb for a ranger imo. Its an assasin thing. Rangers should have the highest run speed easily, but shouldent be able to simple dissapear like a Melee class would need to. Honestly i respect the daggers from L2 more than rogues from wow because in L2 they had to have the skill to get arround the fight unseen without the ability to just poof. In wow all the had to do was vanish/stunlock. Running through the confusion of a mass pvp and picking off Healers without the ability to be invisible is alot more fun imo.
But back to Rangers!... Run speed > all, they cant kill what they cant catch!

I too would opt for speed, although can't see why stealth can't be available to all or select classes to some degree, i'm thinking of the elementalist and necromongers in chronicles of ridock (great movie)

Stealth is in AoC and to me it failed horribly...
a good ranger/archer should always know how to kite...and that means being fast..i would always choose a sprint or something like that over stealth... to me.big deal you can sneak up on a person..does you no good after your first hit...your screwed unless we get like a big crit skill which im doubting or your fighting a lvl 1 person and your like 15... Kiteing allows a bunch to happen...just gotta learn how to move

advantages
I voted for stealth because.... well, looking back on it now I don't really know why I voted for stealth... I guess you can stealth around monsters, scope out future roots and help make a plan for a team. It would help pulling. It would also help with "runs" to new towns like we had in Guild Wars: Prophecies, i don't know if that aspect will transfer into Aion. And also in my opinion, there should be a damage bonus for sneak attacks, or maybe also sneak attacks make it possible to interupt long spell casts. I think those ideas would amp up some votes for stealth. But if there is no bonus for stealth then looking back on my vote I would definitely change it.

Well, first off I just want to say that Rangers do have knockbacks. Now, ranged knockbacks + better movement speed + ranged attacks = OVER POWERED. People here keep saying they'd rather have movement speed because it's so much better for PvP and "they can't kill what they can't catch" and that's exactly why, even playing a ranger, I wouldn't want them to have it. It just creates balancing issues that are too massive... at least that's my take. There are ways to balance it, I guess, but I just assume not give yourself that headache. It would make the ranger too easy to play and other players would need to be the clever ones to get around it. No class should be that easy.
As for stealth, my impression is that Rangers only get it because of their root class, the scout. Going by that idea, the scout makes perfect sense to have stealth and ranged attacks and melee. However, once you specialize as a ranger you stop getting stealth, or at least it's never as effective as an assassin's, who specializes in it. It might be enough to ensure you get the first hit, or if it's usable while already in combat (with a cooldown or something) it can be a way to create distance between you and your enemy. It's true, though, that its PvE usefulness would be limited, even if it had a critical effect, that would played down quite a bit on bosses where you might only get it one time at the very beginning, which over a long boss fight is hardly even noticeable. That said, if you can restealth in combat and use it again with that critical effect you might have something worthwhile... again, a cooldown would be necessary. I realize that I'm actually viewing movement speed as a permanent thing, rather than a temporary buff. If it was something like a rogue sprint, short duration on a multiple minute cooldown, I could see it being viable, but if it's permanent I feel like it would just make a melee/range hybrid into an easy-to-play kite machine. In the end I think it's better for the game if the ranger doesn't really use either stealth or movement speed as a focal point of the class. Like I said, temporary buffs and a little bit of PvP utility are alright, but either is potentially game-breaking if they're usable too often (frequently restealthing in combat to get away or create distance would be just as bad as permanent/frequent movement speed buffs). That's just me though. Now, if this was a debate for the assassin you'd have yourself a dilemma. Both make since, and stealth is bloody annoying, but movement speed could be OP against classes that rely on keeping you away from them... Would be an interesting debate, I think. |

I really dont see the point of stealth in a ranger. maybe if u get xtra dmg from attack from stealth, but it wouldnt be worth it if u cant kite them after it. I go with speed

Speed hands down. Ranger doesn't need stealth unless they want to surprise attack from afar or hide from someone when they don't want to enter combat. It would also have to be for flight too because in the abyss it won't matter if you can run fast, people can just fly to catch up to you.

Movement speed of course. It'd be so much more fun.

As for a ranger, Speed! A ranger uses what... A BOW! Once you attack a target what happens... stealth drops. Stealth is mostly meant for sneaking up close to a target. As a ranger your primary weapon without a doubt will still be the bow not matter what custom system the game uses. A bow is meant to keep the distance, stealth in my opion is meant to close the distance.
