Ranger Grinding Compendium (WIP)

Hey guys, since we seem to get threads pretty frequently around here I figured I would start a thread for such a purpose.

The idea is you guys post grinding spots and I would update the original post to reflect these spots in a semi-organized fashion. If there is anything of note about the mob - for example a quest targets it or it has a dangerous skill, this information would be helpful.

I've added comments about mob skills and available quests that I've personally experienced. I can only speak personally for up to level 30 Elyos.

ELYOS

17-19: Tempest Spirit - NPCs - Aion
/There's a repetable [Coin] quest targeting these mobs.
//They have a fairly strong ranged attack.

18-21: Eltnen Fortress (Hooked Sylphen - NPCs - Aion)
/Pretty much every mob around the Fortress (Sylphen linked to show location). Quests available for most of the mobs as well.

21-23: Monkeys/Frillnecks/Vespines (Manduri Gatherer - NPCs - Aion)
/These mobs are all over the jungle. Manduri are available for a repeat [Coin] quest, Frillnecks are a repeat quest as well.
//Manduri and Vespines have some sort of Blind skill you should try to avoid.

21-25: Harpies in Theobomos (Virago Warrior - NPCs - Aion for location).

23-25: Lepharist Revolutionaries (Raider - NPCs - Aion)

23-25: Zombies Avaricious Zombie - NPCs - Aion
//Very strong ranged attack that you should Focus Evade. Rarely used it if kited properly.

23-26: Acheron Drake - NPCs - Aion
/These are the target of a Campaign quest. It was crowded when I tried these. They tend to resist at 23, be wary.
//They have a powerful poison attack.

25-28: Wasteland Drake - NPCs - Aion

25-29:Memory Reaper - NPCs - Aion
/Blue circle is the Elyos Area. Beware of Ganking. Target of a repeatable quest. Tends to be crowded.
//The abyss area is full of easy mobs that you can grind, look for repeatable quests as well.

25-29: [Elite][Instance]Nochsana Training Camp (See 'Soloing Training Camp Instance' courtesy of Cruoris)

27-29/30: Eastern Eracus Desert (Thorntail Scolopen - NPCs - Aion for general location). Scolopens, Caltrops, Gryphu, Basilisks, Sheluks, and Gnarls are great here. Avoid Ksellid's outside of quests.
/Pretty much the whole desert area has good grinding mobs, there are a few quest hubs around. A very good alternative to the Abyss if you find that you're getting ganked a lot or its too crowded.

27-29/30: Sulfur Tree Archipelago in the Lower Abyss. Embers/Trees/Root Scouts/Bombs.
/Repetable quests available for some mobs here. (Embers for [Coin], Trees)
//High level trees can heal themselves, Bombs have high damage ranged attack. A lot of PvP action here.

28-31: Griffons/Pretor's @Eltnen (Hunter Griffon - NPCs - Aion, Pretor Chaser - NPCs - Aion)
/From what I can tell, Griffon's are during the day and Pretor's spawn at night time. They're both very easy to kill.

29-34: Upper Abyss (Location)

//Lot's of PVP in the area.
///Includes Ghosts of Oblivion, Drakes, Virago Ghosts, and Gargoyles.

29-32: 3Star Sandstorm/Tornado Spirits @Eltnen (location: Tornado Spirit - NPCs - Aion)
/They have several attacks, the only that will hit from range and should be evaded is called Strike Wind.

31-35+: 4Star Scout Fighters/Vaegir's @Eltnen (location: Scout Vaegir - NPCs - Aion)
/You can do this at 30 but you're likely to get snare resists often. Be careful of a boss mob named Isson.
//These call for help occasionally, so kite them out of range of others.

32-35: Tigric mobs (Tigric Fighter - NPCs - Aion for location)

33-37: Flame Barghest @Eltnen (Flame Barghest - NPCs - Aion)
/The further south you go, the higher level they get. Mob level ranges from 35-37. The Magma spirits are easily killed here if they're in your way, but not as efficient.
//Their only skill requires you to be in melee range for it to hit you. Very easy mobs to kite.

37-42: Black Blaze Spirit @Upper Abyss

37-43: [Elite]Lepharist Assassins (Assassin - NPCs - Aion)
/Might be difficult from 37-39.

43-45: Harpies in Theobomos (Virago Trapper - NPCs - Aion for location).

42-48/50: [Elite]Indratu Trooper/Ambusher/Outrider @Herion (Indratu Outrider - NPCs - Aion, Indratu Trooper - NPCs - Aion, Indratu Ambusher - NPCs - Aion)

Yellow Route: The "hard" way - through all mobs, you will add 1-2 kishars, have to add the 3 indratu befor the first bridge and add 1 indratu after the 2nd bridge.

Green Route: Through the mountains - can be done with normal movement/gliding - you'll skip all kishars, but you need to add the same indratus (Yellow Route after the green route ends).

16-18: Poison Arachna - NPCs - Aion
/Nearby aggro mobs, be wary. Close to town.

16-19: Dune Potcrab - NPCs - Aion
/Be careful of nearby Hunters

16-20: Cyclone/Bladestorm Spirits (Bladestorm Spirit - NPCs - Aion for general location, all spirits here have low HP).
/Target for a repeatable [Coin] quest.

21-24: Worgs/Snakes (Fierce Undead Worg - NPCs - Aion)

21-25: Tumbling Fungie - NPCs - Aion
/Beware high damage attacks.

23-26: Laggard Ksellid - NPCs - Aion

25-29: Life Reaper - NPCs - Aion
/Red circle is the Asmodian area. Beware of ganking. Target of a repeatable quest. Tends to be crowded.

38-42 Lament Obscura (Friar Lich - NPCs - Aion)

38-42 Black Blaze Spirit (Upper Abyss)

Really good post, i have been grinding the 21-23 part and it's working like a charm.

pot crabs on the beach near bc area back entrance. easy, no range, no aggro...just dont try to run out w/o looking lol. the hunters WILL dismantle your pretty kiting strats. level 18ish. Hardish to get to, havent seen anyone else there.

Somebody please throw a nice tip for lvl 24 asmo.

I'm grinding Laggard Ksellid for 10k xp a piece but 200x = brain failure

Thanks for that tip.

I added a small section for Asmo based on what I could find from other threads. Again I don't have as much experience with Asmo side of things so please correct mistakes.

I'm not sure if you mean Asmo or Elyos here. I know there are 18ish Sand Potcrabs in Vert for Elyos, do you mean Asmo though?

From level 16 to level 19ish I killed Bladestorm Spirits and Cyclone Spirits in the Impetusium which happen to be the coin quest mobs. They have low armor, pretty low HP and are very easy to kite since they stop to cast on themselves. Also, they drop Wind spirit books for SMs and some random crafting materials. If you can stand grinding the same mob for 3+ levels these are the mobs of choice. Happy hunting.

Did 14-17 on the ice outside morheim - all melee mobs, no agro to worry about and you get a head start on your AP grind by taking out the poor elyos that come in Solo on their spy quest. 18-20 can be done on BC Bodyguards on the Impetusim side of the black claw village you'll get 18-20k a pop and you only need to worry about respawning tigers.

I did and like the Poison Arachna right outside the town in Altgard headed toward BC from 16-18 Asmo. Lots o' Aggro but it teaches good aggro range and kiting in tight quarters Quick xp from low hp mobs, close to town for quick selling.

you'll need thousands of kills at lvl 38+, even when grinding orange mobs.

But hah, thanks for the heads up. I don't really mind, I like it when it's hard. When you reach 50, that's when it gets boring.

there are some nice repeatable quests in abyss. the only two things needed to reach lvl 36+ in a week is dedication and time. no botting or other crap needed.

I think that list is bad because one of the best if not the best areas for 16 to 20 leveling is impetusium which isn't even on there off the wind spirits while grinding the coin quest.

I think it's more like a general idea. Anyone with half a brain realizes the coin quest once they get there, and that all the monsters there give good xp.

Same goes for the Morheim desert, almost zero ranged critters, high xp, easy kills.
