Did this miss the mark more than WAR?
Obviously a lot of the people that have already left probably are not checking in on forums for something they can care less about, but still...
Do you think WAR or AION was in better (or worse) shape after just a few weeks? I'm going to have to say AION *shock* because it was already out for quite some time so it wasn't a new release and they had time to fix some of the glaring holes. Although as many said...like in WAR...the problems are so integral they can't really fix them without a big architectural redesign, which is why they never can be fixed ![]() WAR did have more hype and advertising than this so in some ways that failed expectations more. But I see WAR being able to attract new blood and have more of a 'future' than Aion. Seems they had the codebase, so just localize it and dump it over there. Any $$$ is more than they would have had without it, minus the salaries for the 5 NCSoft West peeps. |

Aion is in better shape than WAR ever was, WAR was full of bugs at release and had some severe stability issues. Comparitively Aion has very few problems, it just seems the Aion community is full of loud whiners who like nyerking about the most minor things.

WAR beats Aion in any aspect of gameplay by far.
I was hoping that Aion will support large Fort fights (where WAR obviously failed), but now it is clear that WAR beats Aion even in aspect of server stability and performance. |

Guess what? AoC had more than 1 mil subscribers on it's first month than somehow most of those subscriptions were closed. Exactly what is already happening to Aion. It's not hard to get a lot of subscriptions during the 1st one-two months, what is hard is to keep those players playing for more than 1-2 months. |

The first few months of WAR, you could not be involved in a large RvR fortress/keep battle without the server crashing. So, yes, aion is in a lot better shape than WAR has ever been.
edit: Let's not forget mass CTD problems WAR had. |

Well I've never had a crash in Aion, though I understand fotress seige crashes affect a lot of people so I'll give you that. But from my personal experience I can run Aion with 10x less lag and rubber banding than WAR.
At least all the quests/mobs work properly in Aion, about 10% of quests were bugged in WAR at release, mob pathing was nyerked and animations frequently got stuck or didn't fire at all. Yeah I'd definitely say Aion is in better shape. __________________

Did Aion miss the mark? Aion was marketed as a PvPvE game created by an Asian gaming studio. We knew there was PvP and looked forward to it. We knew it would be on a massive scale which meant zerging. We knew it would include a lot of PvE content. And we knew it was developed by a company and in a country known for grindy games. Yes, they said they would westernize the game. Of course, I was hoping there would be more quests and that they would be more rewarding. But we knew there would be grinding, it would take a long time to level, the PvP would be zergy at times, and that there would be a ton of PvE content.
My question is, did NA players miss the mark when picking Aion? |
