[Another] Why I'm leaving Aion thread.
in before "see ya!" and "nobody cares".
For those who have played other MMO's and enjoyed them. There are some things you should grow to EXPECT from a video game developer. You're spending YOUR money. YOUR time. Therefore, there should be some basic standards a company you're giving your money to should live up to. NCSoft is falling VERY short of this. NCWest, you need to be on top of this game or you're going to lose your jobs... again. You need to be sending NCSoft e-mails HOURLY demanding responses. These responses from your big brother need to be re-written in a a manner so that the public doesn't panic, then this needs to be posted on YOUR site. If it won't be fixed, TELL US. Zero communication is far worse than bad news. If you think you'll lose your job for pestering your big brother, just imagine what will happen when too many people leave this game. Reason 1. CrySystem.dll crashes. Of the four times I've done castle sieges in the game I've crashed to desktop. Reloading isn't easy and if you're not there for the kill... rewards aren't as grand. The crashing was pretty constant and I've tried this in Windows XP 64, 32, 7, all to no avail. The problem still persists. I watch as everyone in the Alliance crashes and very few could stay connected. It seems that instead of playing a PvP game, I'm playing cat and mouse with how fast I can reload back into Aion. Thanks to Windows 7, my load times are much faster than that of XP! Now, normally a game bug like this wouldn't push me off from a game, however, this issue has been happening since patch 1.0 in Korea and still hasn't been fixed. Nobody has a work around short of modifying the Aion.bin file which has rumored to have gotten some people banned. The PvEvP is WHY I WANTED TO PLAY so this aspect not working is game breaking. I don't see it getting fixed anytime soon. The massive thread on Aion Source concerning the matter: Do you crash a lot during a castle siege? Numerous users have contacted NCSoft and even their video card makers about this issue already, and have been either shrugged off and pointed elsewhere or told completely useless things like "try a different video card." We need everyone to pester NCSoft until they at least acknowledge the problem. Reducing the memory usage by turning down details will mitigate the crashes but is not an acceptable fix. It'll also be interesting to know if K-Aion has the same issue, as I can't imagine how that got out of beta testing (well, obviously a lot of things did...) Reason 2. Horrible customer service and zero communication. The only communication about this problem from NCWest is on a fansite. There is NOTHING on the official site and there hasn't been an official post since the beginning of September to the likes of "well get back to you". It is now November. http://www.aionsource.com/forum/1553430-post34.html The post for those interested. I may be spoiled, but if WoW crashes, you get updates, almost hourly. You have interaction with your GMs and devs. They actually respond. You open your WoW client and you have a informational window. The fact that there is ZERO response from NCSoft about this leaves me wondering if they are just done with the game and trying to make their buck off it and forget it. With NCSoft, I got an e-mail with suggestions like running virus scans and doing windows updates. THANKS!!! Reason 3. Just plain disregard to the Western Culture. While they tried to clean up the spam, it's one of those on-going processes and always will be. I'm not going to play ignorant and act as though it's not in WoW, however I feel that WoW has done quite a bit more to keep it out than NCSoft has or is doing. There are so many ways to make a spammer's life difficult yet they really are just trying to appease us. Furthermore, NCSoft's track record on this matter (very poor, look at Lineage) leads me to believe that this will just have to be accepted in Aion as well. Botters are EVERYWHERE and you are usually fighting one of them for quest mobs. I'll make another comparison to WoW here in that you are at a disadvantage if you don't bot and there are so many good reasons to bot. In WoW if you bot, 9/10 times, you get banned permanently. Blizzard doesn't take kindly to this. I've considered it when I did the math of having to kill 1400 mobs for one level without 1 quest for the whole thing. I don't mind the grinds in Aion, it's just that doing them wears on you when you are headed to an end game that doesn't work. I seriously would be motivated to play the game if it worked. NCSoft has made a potentially great game. The problem is that I don't feel NCSoft will support this game's potential. They won't develop and fix the problems, at least, I don't feel they will. |

Good and valid arguments
![]() I hope they get rid of some of those things, I know the crashing issue is and old issue I suffered it on korean version (I had ATI GPU by then) luckily Im not suffering it often now since I have an Nvidia card, only in sieges and very rarely in towns. Hope they do something with bots before people thinks this has become into another L2, then leave. Well good luck anyway. __________________

Actually we do care. We do care when people leave because that is one more person gone. That will mean smaller server populations and less potential of battles. So yes, EVERYONE really does care. if they didn't then they wouldn't even bother to respond. I agree with OP this game has a lot of potential and NCSoft really does need to at least pretend they care, or come the next big OMGIWANT game comes out, this will become another ghost town.

Shut up already!
As you already obviously know, there are a ton of threads like this, so this should have been posted in one of those. 1. Not nearly as many people as you think are crashing. 2. If you bothered to use the electronic ticket system like Ncsoft suggests, you'd be able to communicate just fine. They also only used the fan sites when their forums didn't work. They work now. Use them. 3. If you can't be bothered to help your community by reporting bots and just QQ about it, go back to WoW please. It takes time to work out systems to get rid of bots. It took WoW YEARS. It took FFXI YEARS. It took every other MMO YEARS to get rid of bots. The game is still less than a year old, and it's only 1 month old in the Western hemisphere. Chill. The. Nyerk. Out. or go back to wow. __________________ It is impossible to defeat an ignorant man in argument. - William G. McAdoo |

All they need to do is make a 64 bit client. Here's hoping they crank it out soon. __________________

I completely agree with all of what you wrote. WAR had an even bigger problem with the servers crashing and pvp zones resetting, and it's what made me quit that game. The challenge wasn't taking the city, it was a game of chance whether or not the server would crash and put you back on square 1.
I have never seen a GM in any NCSoft game, and when I tried contacting them in Aion I was more or less told to nyerk off. Not in those exact words, but that's what he wanted to say. And yeah, I didn't appreciate the grinding but I didn't hate it either. The problem with it is lack of motivation on the player's side. It could take a year to grind, for all I care, as long as it's enjoyable and that I feel rewarded when I do it. I don't know about any of you guys, but my leveling experience in Aion was not rewarding. gg. __________________

One of the coolest things in Aion I think is their in-game Survey system. If they ever want a TRUE poll of the community, all they need to do is write up an in game survey, 1 response per account. Ideally with unbiased survey responses.
There, Done, now they have an ACCURATE % of what the REAL majority wants, and not what (I hope and pray is only) the vocal minority says. |

TBH number 1 is a bad thing for me, if mythic can fix fort crashes im pretty sure the Aion guys can.
TBH for me the game seems to be lacking a soul. ------------------------- Quote:
When you have to spend stupid amounts to level crafting, stupid amounts of new gear every few levels, manastones, Stigmas, new skills, wings and pots its no wonder the game has bots and god farmers. Last edited by Calelith; 11-03-2009 at 08:42 PM.. Reason: Automerged Double-Post. |
