Fun sport, boys and girls - ignoring a year of Korean gameplay and few months of EU/NA CB and OB.

One thing that has nyerked me off though. They desided to do this patch during the day and not when everybody is sleeping. And ontop of that they said it would only take 4hrs and its been 9hrs now! Not to good on that pary NCsoft. But otherwise i think your doing good  Please get rid of all the gold bots though ![]() __________________

Wow - responders to this forum are shockingly so whiny! Whoever the "community" is that is requesting changes that weren't addressed are probably changes to make this game easier. Last thing we need is another "fixed" MMO to accomodate complainers that want to play games that are not challenging. The game has only been out for 2 months - and we're already at end game content. I REALLY home NCSoft doesn't give in to the NA demands of making the game more simple. Same reason I left WoW...

Did not see that post, agreed with Knite 100%.
Game has been out in US for two months. Abedeus. Big difference, especially with what...4 patches they have done since release? |

for a game that was a remarkably smooth release i feel many people probably are completely unaware that many people still crash not only regularly but often. the impact of soulhealing costs is monumental for us along with taking a significant hit to fun factor. not that games should be taken "seriously" but i do enjoy this hobby very much and the constant crashing just makes it hard to really feel good about the game. |

Implementing captcha recognition into a dodgy bot program would be very difficult. All of the free to use bots are dodgy side projects that don't work very well. The pay bots are okay, but still pretty dodgy. They do work, but they're not technologically advanced by any means. I'm stating here, that bots won't bypass the captcha codes. And if they do, it's still going to stop alot of the smaller botters not affiliated with large bot business in china from gathering. The captcha was only cracked in 2008, for one service, by people that couldn't care less about aion. The implementation of captcha recognition that can accurately and consistently bypass the captcha would be a technological feat that surpases the intelligence and design of all aion bot programs currently around. This is why it's not going to be broken easily, if at all. |

It makes me feel better that I have my WoW account active again - Every day I see developers post to the community, large balance issue's being solved, much more new and attractive content being worked on and shared.... Its like i'm paying 15 bucks a month to a company that actually cares.
I read these patch notes and they just made me laugh. What a terrible attempt at patching a game...way to dodge main issue's and the majority of the complaints of your customers. I play both WoW and Aion - you can guess which one I prefer. though the saying goes stick with it, Aion will get better. you can only say that so many times i'm afraid. But whatever. /flails his templar around ![]() ***edit Quote:
but again... just be patient and it'll get better. everyone has the right to complain - if you don't want to be in a situation where you are constantly scrutinized then you need to deal with the issue's that are causing the negativity to come to your doorstep. To ignore this is to accept that your trash. NCsoft isn't taking steps to calm their player base of annoying obnoxious children and old fashioned mmo geezers who are for or against the way the game is done. We the players can all agree that Having more than one developer response a day would be a dramatic improvement to the community and its outlook. Communication is Key. Let me state again - this works universally here If Ncsoft doesn't want to be looked at like a trash company that makes trash games they need to confront the masses and admit the way they do biz or they need to confront the problem and solve it. Lets take a look at what previous NCSOFT employee's have to say about their own company, shall we? Then lets find out if you can piece together what the main problem is. *** NCsoft Product Manager in Brighton, England (United Kingdom): (Past Employee - 2008) “Not so much of a has-been, more a never-was.” Pros Massively multiplayer online games are arguably the biggest growth sector in gaming - and it's all that NCsoft does. If you want to be in the field, it should in theory be a good place to start. Benefits in the European office are generally good, with bonuses and payrises (although look out in 2009, considering the redundancies in September 2008). Atmosphere is generally good, although management is not brave enough to talk openly about strategy... mostly because they don't have any. Work-life balance is good, and generally people are respected for the work they do - unless you work in some departments, like Customer Service, but then they've all been put of work as well. Cons The company always seemed rudderless and without any sort of long-term strategy - indeed it was admitted time and again that this was the case. It's been previously stated that NCsoft wants to be an 'entertainment company' but beyond that, little detail was given on exactly how this was going to be achieved or indeed what it even meant. This has led to a muddled development strategy that supposedly is strongest when focusing on 'AAA games', despite the fact that the last two 'AAA games' both failed (Auto Assault and Tabula Rasa). This seems to be an all-or-nothing play, and when the biggest force in the MMO field is already sitting on the biggest pile of cash, seems doomed to fail. Ever heard of 'disruptive' business strategies, NCsoft? Because of the redundancies, there is no now development work at all done in the European office, so don't even bother considering it from that angle. What is left is a reduced publishing operation that will take orders from the US office, and this has been stated publicly. ***************** NCsoft Software Engineer in Austin, TX: (Past Employee - 2008) “This company has peaked, and is on its way down.” 0 of 1 people found this helpful Pros It's a great start in the game industry, and if they happen to make a game you love, it could be worth it to work there. Cons Company direction changes with the wind, and directives from above are rarely followed by the support (budget, manpower, etc.) to actually follow them.' ******** NCsoft Developer in Austin, TX: (Past Employee - 2008) “Almost like a real job!” 0 of 1 people found this helpful Pros If you're mediocre and are looking for a place to just dog it, maybe punch the clock? This is the place for you. Also, if you speak Korean you can write your own check. It is a good place to be in QA or CS, though. Those departments are pretty solid. 25 cent sodas and snacks. Cons Hmm, let's see. Stability is poor, absolutely no coordination between Korean management and US management, weak strategic vision, poor portfolio, weak creative development, terrible marketing, etc.********** ********** NCsoft Software Engineer in Austin, TX: (Current Employee) “Good people and teams, confusing corporate direction” 1 of 1 people found this helpful Pros Development teams are given a fair amount of autonomy to create the game they want to make. The company was willing to take risks on some technologies and ideas. They are the leading MMO developer in the world with many titles under their belt, they have the experience to create some fairly polished MMOs and to support them. Cons Senior management and corporate direction comes down without any feedback from the development teams whose fates are being decided. Coordination amongst various development teams and knowledge sharing is not practiced, reinventing the wheel happens alot. The lack of follow through on some project ideas and letting projects die creates frustrated employees. They need to communicate better and LISTEN I admit i have this problem too having ADD experiences often but this is the issue- the major part of communication that most humans have a problem with is 'listening'. I believe if NCSOFT spent as much time as they do listening to their community and what they want as they do with developing new content and fixing things the community on a whole will be much more satisfied. What if NCSOFT told their customers what their issue's are that they are fixing? Its risky, but I think dedicated customers who love the game will understand that hard issue's come up that need priority over class adjustments. I think a lot of the drama is some of us players see giant faults and instead of Ncsoft making some kind of statement on it they are silent and the players want recognition and continue to nerd rage. -sigh- neeeeeeeeeeeed more communication. badly.
