Post Count issues

Right, I'm posting in here simply because the last thread that had anything to do with this was closed.

I think that the post count blocking of the entire Everything Else section is stupid, because some of the non-ChitChat areas can have serious discussions in them, which should count towards one's postcount.

Not my original point, but I agree at some level.
I think it would be an okay idea if users could say whether or not they want they're postcounts on display for everyone to see.

But I don't mind if the chit chat section doesn't give post counts. Up to Mark

The entire "Everything Else" section doesn't increase post counts. Since it's basically a huge "Off-topic" section (anything that is not absolutely about Aion goes in there) and this fansite is based entirely on Aion, it makes sense (to me, at least) for post counts to not increase. No matter how "serious" an off-topic discussion becomes, it's still off topic and has little to nothing to do with Aion itself.

Of course, I'm always open to removing post counts completely (it's been discussed a couple times before and thrown out). We can always do that, if people really start to care too much about post counts. Personally, I want to cap mine at 1338, just because.

Why do you care about your post counts...really? You won't get any special treatment for having more posts.

This seems more of a whine than anything else. Not important at all.

A high post count doesn't get you any special treatment. Post counts don't mean that one is any smarter than another.

Exactly. They MIGHT mean that someone's been around for a long time, or someone's a spammer/extremely helpful/talkative person, but that's about all.

Nope, doesn't work like that here. We do have a "Subscriber" program though., if you're interested. It's completely optional.

I think when people come more adn more obsessed about their postcount, they'll want to post more. Now this can either be good or bad depending on the person. Either they will Become really active in the community and post alot everywhere (like alot of the senior members do) or they will spam or post messages like "ya, lol" for a single post.

Im happy woth no postcount or with one.
