Spell Checking

Perhaps you could enforce a mandatory spell check that's not intrusive? By not intrusive, I mean that it changes words automatically after the submit button is pressed.

I myself would rather see the wrong use (ie to versus two or too) than an intirely botched up word.

An easier to implement but harsh thing to do would be browser checking. I'm not saying block IE users from coming to the site, but annoy them to the point that it makes them WANT to switch sites. For example, upon entering the site, have something like:

F*CK, I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU'RE USING THAT PIECE OF SH*T. UNLESS YOU REALLY WANT TO SEE THIS MESSAGE EVERY TIME YOU COME HERE, SWITCH BROWSERS!!

or, increase revenue by added ads that only appear in IE. Inform users that by switching browsers, they can get rid of these ads. Since a lot of people still use IE, you'd get a lot of ad hits, but at the same time offer up a way for users to get rid of them.

Speaking of posting, is there a way to turn off censoring for us older posters, F**CK!

No, censoring is not going anywhere. Without it NCsoft wouldn't like us. As for spellchecking, I know there's a mod for vBulletin that adds a spellchecker, but it's voluntary. I'd have to force the spellchecker to run on every post to get any results, lol...

Ever heard of an iron hand in a velvet glove? Maybe not, it's a saying I grew up with. Forcing people to do things makes them go away, and you can't be rude on an official fan site like this, it don't seem very nice.

Spoken like a true Canadian, Cynthe. The main thing is: this is a forum. People aren't always great spellers. Luckily, the human brain is great at piecing together these errors. If the spelling is bothering you that much, you're not concentrating enough on the content of the post.

Spell checkers don't really do a very good job in my opinion, I prefer using my brain. By the way, you could check intirely

Preaching to the choir when it comes to the "making people do things" bit. I'm military, so I suppose my brain has been reprogrammed and I'm an efficient robot now.

Anyways, I really could care less about grammatical errors and typos. To be honest, I was somewhat being sarcastic, but I suppose that, as usual, got lost in translation. I'll work on using blatant sarcasm more often than the subtle sardonic undertones I usually use.

How exactly was that 'preaching'? I say my opinion and that's it, like it or not that's your call and whatever your opinion of my post is, is fine with me but don't tell me I'm 'preaching' lol
As for you being sarcastic, I'm pretty sure you were being serious, but no one agrees with you, so you're backtracking.

It could have been that I misinterpreted your post if that is so then I'm sorry, and I'd suggest using smileys and such when you're being sarcastic or making a joke, so people can't mistake it for something else.

Cheerio.

I use SeaMonkey, and if you misspell a word it underlines it in red squiggles like in Microsoft Word. And you can simply right click and see its suggestions. It's quite helpful. It comes with the SeaMonkey download, its not a separate download.

Same with Firefox, which is basically Seamonkey's browser.
