ad, is this really necessary?

Honestly, who click on those ads? Classmates.com? lmao. Are those ugly ads really that necessary? I've never ever clicked them and I would go as far as saying that no one care. Maybe I am wrong, maybe they do help pay for the site? How does that work?

Also, if only those ads were at least related to Aion, gaming, pc hardware...etc. You know something that actually make sens among the gamer community. Now, all I ever see are Classmate.com? Weight thingy and Best Western Hotel? W T F who the hell would click that lol >.<

You figured it out by the end of your first paragraph... and you still clicked on send?
Yep, site hosting isn't free, especially with so many people generating traffic.

I'm fairly certain that most Aion/game-related ads don't pay quite as much as some of the more generic, larger sites.

Just get adblock. I didn't even *know* there were ads on this site until you mentioned it.

Are they sending money to Aionsource every single time someone click on them? If yes, then what's the point of those ads again? Like I said, I'm pretty sure no one click them. Even you, have blocked them >.>

Perhaps they are simply paying 1 big amount per month, no matter how many people click on them? I'm just curious, that is all.

Ahhh, I see! I focused on the actual name of your thread.

People must click on these things, otherwise they would be long gone! Even though we'd like to think gamers are above this, well... x) Plus, some could click on them by distraction or "to show support" or whatever, I guess.

Slightly OT but related : back when I worked for a major ISP, I've had a boss who actually *bought and installed* that bonzi buddy thing (that doesn't exist anymore, right?)... or whatever the name of that purple spyware gorilla was (I personally knew someone who did that! Blew my mind.). Granted, she was drunk, but does that really make a difference in the end? x)

If you can get the source link and a screenshot of any ad you feel doesn't fit in or is ridiculous, feel free to PM it to me and I'll get our ad ops team to look into it. It's the 4th of July weekend so nothing will be resolved until Monday, but we certainly don't want annoying ads showing up.

It's not easy to filter them ourselves when they're through ad networks, so the help of the community in spotting the bad apples is very important.

Race: Elyos

They likely get paid every time the ad loads and more every time the ad is clicked.
