Server Busy...

Ok it is weee hours in the morning... 4:28 AM over here at the west coast or 7:28 EST I think... If the server is busy 3/4 the time i click a link... how do you plan on handling the massive amounts of people that'll pour in here once the official site is up and it nears beta? The amount of people then would be exponential.

Sorry about that guys. I'm still trying to find the perfect setting for my cutoff limit so I don't have my host breathing down my neck again. The server's not actually "busy" or overloaded, the forums are just using a percentage of resources higher than the limit I set, which is 5.5 right now. I might jack that back up to 6. It was at 7 yesterday afternoon before I changed it to see what the reaction would be.

There's not much to "fix." I just have to "tweak" the settings until I find the perfect value.

You should really check out www.one.com for hosting Mark.. Cheap and as good as it gets. People download files from my guild website at 900kbps easy.

Well, perhaps, but right now I'm earning free hosting by referring people to Servage.net. Perhaps when I have to make a new payment I'll consider them.

Besides, I'm sure One.com has limits on how much server resources their shared hosting accounts can use, too.

I suggest setting up a donation style set up. This way if you do have to pay anything, it will be a relatively low amount. I do realize you are not exactly working 70 hour work weeks, I just thought it would be a great idea. The problem with having inconveniences like these is it might lure would be community members away and onto another fansite.

Ok, I'm sorry for making this kind of post my first one, but seriously this impression isn't a good one. I came to this page since it was supposed to be the best one in english, and maybe the information is here, but I sure can't get it because the server is crappy like hell.

I don't want to sound rude or anything (though I probably do) but this should really be fixed. I realize that good hosting probably costs money, but it doesn't necessarily mean it has to, I've seen some posts about people offering to host the site, or even donate money if you switch to a better host.

Sure, if you don't want to, fine. But with these "the server is busy" message appearing as much as they do know, don't expect to get new members, and you'll probably lose some old ones as well.

I'm disappointed too. I could turn the setting off entirely, but I don't want to get shut off by my host again. In any case, I've changed the settings some more. Hopefully you'll be back.
