Like Haubix says, some people don't have Java at work. Also, companies can block the ports used by IRC. Then it wouldn't matter if you did have Java available or not.

Real time shout boxes are cool, and fun... nice to chat with people and discuss the game... a few sites i got to have them and they are great.

We used to have one before people abused it.

If we enabled one now, it would probably move too fast to be of any use.
