Flashchat as shoutbox

Uh oh, here comes me with another suggestion. This is a bit more realistic and I'm sure many of you would agree to this to a certain extent. One thing that I find neglected is our Flashchat. One, I find it to be too much trouble to keep a flashchat tab and check back every 5 minutes to see if anyone signed on or at least said something. What I am suggesting is bringing back the shout box in the form of Flash Chat. We could have modestly sized frame for it at the top of certain pages and you would be signed on once you log onto the website and remained signed on until you close AionSource windows.

I always know when people sign in or type because of the "ding". I am actually fine with the way it is now.

maybe is just me but i dont think the flashchat is neglected at all Q-Q *happy flashchat spammer*
there are not always people on but for quiet a while there are always regular participation

I know even less about AJAX than I do PHP. If vBulletin uses it more in the future then we'll have it. Or if you want to code it for AionSource.com.

Bad idea, even the AJAX part. Only thing that needs to change is that the flashchat needs to be linked to an IRC channel :P

But that's also impossible, as Flashchat is flash-based and uses a flat text file to store everything. It doesn't connect to IRC and cannot connect to IRC even if it wanted.

So if IRC and Flash can't communicate, then why don't we pick one over the other? Seems kind of annoying to have two chat services to further prevent you from communicating with fellow forum goers.
