Personally, I had the same problem when I started following Aion, and I had to dig just to find a good link with all the legitimate answers. Perhaps the problem is not listing the significant and specific information which is asked most often in a blaitently obvious location, like the main tabs or the top section of the main page.
I mean, lets do a once over of the main page and see what a brand new person will see when they initially seek out Aion information. Aion Source, the tabs are Home, Forum, Articles, Wiki, Gallery, Blogs, Groups, Flashchat and IRC (and I never found out what IRC was for since the link always fails). We can also look at the initial links, we have Developer Tracker, Facebook Artwork, CBT2 recap and the news digest. Next we have News, Threads, Videos, Gallery, and adds. That's it, the links at the bottom offer nothing, and the capitol Aion fansite does not have a direct link to all the relavent initial information on the main page. So they have to get on the forums, and either search or ask, and wile they could search over a dozen relavent questions, and likely make a thread for at least one, this is not a failure by new interest to find the most significant information appropriately, it is a failure to present the general information about Aion in plain view. You have to go to the forums, then to SubForum, to see a sticky which only says that it might release in 2008, as if there isn't a landslide of other questions they will have when they first realize Aion. There isn't even a subforum dedicated to the initial questions and details someone will want to know. When I found this forum it was right before the change, and there was a linke somewhere moderately obscure on the main page which vaguely answered some of the initial questions, but they changed the site right after I joined. So here's the issue, it isn't players who don't take the time to search a forum to get the basic information, which rightfully should be ironned to the top of the main page, when they probably already had to search the internet for a site about aion and choose from one of a dozen, and do you think they will even pick the one which doesn't have obvious information in an obvious location, it's the site and the forum which doesn't display the info in an appropriate manner. The sticky which mentions the release date should also have a quick list of basic info tacked to it. The auto match bit on new threads is a great addition, and even with every precaution, some people will still ask the question, but the bible says pull the beam out of your own eye before assisting your brother with a splinter in his.

You know that would be depressing. In a few month's they could just end the entire project and make an MMO based around breeding and training gophers.
The attraction of new people to the entire forum is good, but I don't think you should do anything drastic because some newbster asked a FAQ on the general posts section. It happens, a lot, and even more when you're popular.

Lol, that would be funny to try. Wonder if vBulletin has that feature already built-in or if I have to use a mod to do it. Hmm...brb.

i could have some suggestions for making even more simple for newbies to read about release info and stuffs that usually ask at there firsts posts and annoying us. But from my experience is kind of useless. And this because they r all very lazy, first they don't know and don't care if the questions have been put before and second is more simple to click the "new thread" or "post reply" button and make a nooby post. But banning is not the solution if u ask me.
Hmmm .. I got an idea... : For making a post .. u need to register .. and u get registration mail, this mail u must read.. so add smg like this in the mail : "If you are new in the AionSource and need also important news, such as release date, how to play, how to download the game, please read this links:" and add the important links, with release date, rules of forum, ultimate aion FAQ, smg like this. We may get this way a chance to minimize the newbies spams .. what u think?

Well, I think new users already get an instant PM in their inbox that asks them to read the rules and the "release date/beta" announcement. I may be able to do that for their email too, if I haven't already.

Its not, this is all just a sick joke that NCSoft is playing on everyone to get them all hyped up for a game that they have no intention on releasing
