No, that's not contradiction, Zinrae already gave you a warning, no need for me to repeat what he said when you knew very well what it was about. We disagree, it was not unnecessary. The posts you made did not contribute to the community, and we treat everyone equally. Why should we allow you to post something like that but not others? You want to ban people who ask ignorant questions, which also are harmless posts by the way. I'm sorry to see you "go", but ultimately it is up to you.
As for L2orphus / L2blah, the moderation there was non existent pretty much. The owner of L2orphus and blah is a friend of mine, and he admitted it to me himself. We're having a different goal here. We already give infractions to those that "forget" to check our board rules and the new system implemented to prevent the influx of new threads as well. Like I said, everyone is treated equally.

Big Deal. It is also important to know where the Server is located - this is a major point in determining which country's law applies. Also, he has to answer to no one but himself. What makes you think he has to answer to NCSoft? oO

Denmaru,
We want to work together with NCsoft, not against them. We're a fansite. Furthermore, official NCsoft employees are posting here. It would hurt us to not work with them. They've been great to us, posting information, sending out new concept art and information. If we weren't in the "fansite program" and wanted to work against the company that are developing our favorite game, Aion, then I suppose it's possible. Even so, I don't see anything gained by doing so. AionSource is hosted in the US, and even if we were hosted in a country that has different laws, I'm sure we'd still listen to NCsoft, after all they are the developers of Aion and we trust them to know the best. Also, we'd lose the fansite status, credibility and trust of NCsoft if we were to go against them. Additionally, we'll never be able to give out potential beta invites, nor will we ever get interviews and exclusive information.

Denmaru, if we want NCsoft's people posting here we have to play with their rules, that's what you aren't getting out of the whole picture. If Aionsource ignores those rules, some other fansite will follow them religiously and get the cake.
Edit: Zyuu was faster :<

Anyhow, Denmaru, you may think that somehow all these wonderful laws of this world don't actually mean anything or apply to anyone, especially not you because you happen to live in some special country somewhere. The Antarctic? Well guess what, buddy? Go start a website with all your supposedly legal content. Go upload the contents of Aion's .pak files, go post full versions of copyrighted music tracks for download, go ahead. AionSource.com values American, British, European Union, and International laws, along with NCsoft's participation on our forums. You'd have none of that, it seems. Enjoy receiving C&Ds in the mail from NCsoft (if you even get mail on the bottom of the world). AionSource.com will be right here, still rocking, still having NCsoft post on our forums, still getting exclusive content and being the best Aion fansite in the English-speaking universe.

It's a real shame when a long standing, trusted and loyal member like Pancak3s that has been here from the start is provoked to leave like this. Whether you agree with his reasons or not, they are still valid reasons and i guess the hype is starting kill what we once had.
Aionsource has developed far beyond what i expected and has attracted more people than i could have imagined at the time of sign up way back when. It's a good thing but i guess i just miss the old days of speculation and Western Beta coming 2007 threads which make everyone laugh now. Back when the Balaur were just a silhouette and the elyos were fighting those spitting dinosaurs from Jurassic Park. Nostaligic memories. I think most the old timers are just weary after all this time and this is how situations like this start. Personally i choose to just ignore most the forums and read up on news and mess about threads. It's a shame in my eyes because i was once a very active member...posting answers to questions, theorising and openly giving opinions but i just can't be fussed going through all these repeated threads anymore. The only thing that gets me annoyed is people who are relatively new giving out false information to people that ask. I had to step in recently in a thread about how the world is setup (Instance vs sandbox) because someone said Aion is like WoW when it's not. It's zoned...and people seem to just assume things and think they know it all. That turned into a bit of a rant but oh well. Back to Pancak3s: i'll miss you bud. Hopefully we will meet in game...if it's possible and never lose those shades. Peace. |

Koji, new "annoying" threads wont be the case anymore now, thanks to the new system
. And yeah, false information really sucks, it's nice to see that you correct them.

Sieghardt revolt against l2blah!
L2blah did have some moderating, and it sucked, a whole server community boycotted blah because of the guy who runs it. This is a great site, however I think the moderating is over the top...Arguments should be allowed even if they include flaming, as long as its an actual argument about something, not posts that are just direct insults. Pancake's post was stupid, but I dont see it as entirely relevant because the thread was even more stupid and sent to the graveyard. |

Yeah Calindor, L2blah is pretty corrupt and has nothing of interest most of the time. "Mondrated" (the Sieghardt "side" forum) did not appeal to me that much either though and its now pretty much dead.

While I'm a new member here, I can understand the annoyance that comes with people posting questions that have already been asked in the past. It can be annoying, but that's why the new system came in place, to prevent people from making new threads about topics already discussed.
At the same time, there's a way to go about it. I think it's always better to take an issue to the administrators if you think it needs to be changed, as you can see "taking it the matter into your own hands" so to speak wasn't working very well. Mark works very hard on this fansite to keep it a fun community for everyone, and I can see how your posts were taken as comments that weren't contributing to this community at all. So I agree with the administrators decision in whatever it was originally regarding (I don't know what the original post was about, but judging by the last two threads I've seen you start...I think the administrators were justified.) Too bad you're leaving before I got to know you, I hope to see you in game sometime. Good luck in your future endeavors and take care. ^^ |

. When the game comes out, there will be a plethora of fansites. Tell me which one you decide to frequent, I don't want to lose touch .As for moderation: I think they are doing a fine job controlling the spam. In my opinion, the thing that needs improvement is the lack of personal relationships. It's hard for the Curse mods who have come to just simply jump in and be good moderators. I think it's fair to ask some of the mods to become a little more acquainted with us. It's hard enough to tell if somebody is joking on the internet or not. I believe with a bit more of a personal touch, we can see that things like this don't happen again. I understand that Curse is a large network, but this is a fansite, emphasis on the "fan". This may not seem like a big deal to most of you, but to Koji, and I (probably a few others too), this is very bad news seeing Pancak3s go. While I do appreciate greatly what Curse has done for the website, I hope some of my comments will be taken to heart. Not only to improve this community, but all the other ones under your umbrella as well.

On a related note, I doubt other Aion fansites will pop up that'll even be worth your time compared to AionSource.com. ![]()

No "jumping in" was done in this particular case actually. A Super Moderator took action against pancake first, then I took action on pancake's threads which was regarding the action Zinrae took. I spend many hours a week reading threads on this forum, probably at least 10. Aion interests me greatly
.Mark has done a great job with this site, and it's growing rapidly. I'm excited to see what will happen as Aion get closer to a western beta and ultimately the release. Some information, before any action is taken against any user, I believe all of us always make sure to read said users post history and do some research. Also, I've used this site since 2007. Over a year now, so I'm not new. Some of the other Curse staff is new, but they are not being very active mod-wise. Quote:
