Speaking of that, I just hope if they do the soulshot mechanic they wont be a huge money sink like they were in L2.

I am still not convinced that too fast mana regen is a good thing, L2 and FFXi were pretty bad but NOTHING was as bad as EQ1 medding.. shutter... though it did make for good epic fights when people when conservation was key.... and a few good gnome chanters.

I agree here. It would sadden me if Aion became a game living off subscribers who expect simplicity and easy execution of the game. Although looking at Linage 2, i doubt that'll be the case. Mp regen should be moderate. Not too fast and not too slow - and it should (if skill points are invested in it) increase with level.

Soulshots/Spirishots is a thing i can live without though. Another money sink please.

I really hope that mp regenerates very fast when you sit down. I had the same problems in L2 with mage there. It took so long to regenerate Mp that i was about to fall asleep.

For sitting...maybe. If it would regenerate ridiculously fast, sorcerers would outgrind other classes. They have high single-damage attacks, which basically means you can kill things faster. They don't get hit too much (and even have self heals), so that's another problem solved that could stop you from attacking the next mob.

What do other classes have? Nothing to compare right? If sitting regenerates MP very fast. I'm not saying it should be freaking slow either, just not ridiculously fast. Or else you need to compensate for the other classes as well...and that's not easy to do.

I agree for MP not to regenerate extreamly fast, but still pretty fast. I do not want to fall asleep for 14 min or become frustraited, while waiting for MP to regenerate.

if we must lets use WoW as an example. Mana regenerates quite quickly depending on how much Spirit, and Mp5 (mana per second) you stack.
Now i know this doesnt work with Rogue and Warrior type classes due to the Universal Attack point being Mana in Aion but Mages in no way were over powered in leveling. nor were any of the other classes....some were a bit easier than others due to the utility of each class but they all had weeknesses in given situations.

seeing that all classes use Mana in Aion and that the Regeneration speed will be the same ( not exactly sure if thats true havent heard anything about Mana regen stats) I feel that all classes will have an all right time leveling. you have to realize that all classes have been tested in the 3 Betas that have gone under way, and from the Translations and other coverage ive read there are 0 complaints about mana regen. and Few complaints about class balance so far. a few problems here and there but nothing to really worry about.

Mana regen if 15-20 seconds while sitting is similar to wow while Eating/drinking.

imo... this is a perfect Regen duration. not too fast but not so slow that it makes you want to end your life while playing due to frustration and Slowness.

L2 sounds like an experimental game developers chocked full of Tedium to see if People would actually play it.....funny enough people actually did.....by the millions

Lineage 2 is an awesome game, but the grind sucks a lot...even with their new "vitality" system in place. Bots make or break a game...big time...

As for the topic, I'd like a Wow similar mp regen style...you can't regen if you are fighting, but can sit down or eat/drink your way up to full within 20 secs if uninterrupted.

I've never enjoyed sitting to regain mana. I've always quit games within the first 2-3 days that force you to waste hours to just sitting while your grinding.

Imo mana pots are fair, its similiar (and most often more expensive....) then arrows. This allows instant recovery of mana, I always think this is nessacary, cause no person who has common sense would play a character that gets in 2 good shots and then needs to sit for 10 minuites cause their "ultimate spell" cost more then half their mana. I'd be annoyed in pvp if that happened.

Also I do NOT beleive regain is fair (in the amount 2moons had in it.) This basically cut off any requirement for pots at all. I don't beleive its fair that we get such power with no cost at all, if were allowed to regain easily with no cost that would overpower our class. I beleive a balance between the two is good.

(Also is there such a thing as a stat in Aion that can boost mana/hp recovery or am I thinking Oblivion or some other online mmo?)

There is nothing worse than smacking 3 mob's then you got to sit for 10 min's just to recharge mana or hp, Takes all the fun out of a game. Aion does not look to be one of "those" games thank god.

If you consider what the interviews have said about combat, being the "console like" way its supposed to be, where battles are fast paced and monsters die quickly, this absolutely has to therefor have a quick regeneration of mana so that the mage archtypes are even useful in anything like a PVP mass combat, or even that video of the Sorcerer vs the Templar, the sorcerer was able to cast at any time they wanted to, not blow off three spells and sit for 10 minutes (Yes I have been an elven wizard from EQ1, thank god for harvest.). If things are going to be fast paced in this game when it comes to combat, then there will most likely be many ways for quick mana regeneration, but a big highlight in this game is strategical combat thinking, so consider how their going to work that with mana.
