I'm not sure but i have that feeling that most the skills and items of a Mage ( Sorcerer ) Will be the same as a Mage on World Of Warcraft.
On most MMORPG i'v played the mages are based-on the Wow characteristics ... Post your idea's ![]()

I didn't like the name of this thread and I thought it would be an implication that Aion (the whole game) is just a "copy" of WoW, which would be a pretty frustrating comparison.
But come on people, getting mad at this? The guy has a point. The sorcerer gameplay I've seen in Aion is very similar to the mage gameplay I experienced in WoW. Granted, I quit WoW before BC and haven't kept up with any changes, and granted I haven't played any other MMO as much as I did WoW, I do think it's a fair comparison. There are many other parallels between Aion and WoW, and that is nothing to be upset over. As long as Aion can do right what WoW did "wrong," it will be a much better game. |

I think mage classes in general are going to be similar. Mages in any MMO have been huge damage dealing machines while having low defense.

a sorcerer is a sorcerer.... Wow didn't created it, they just used it, just as any other MMO did. There is black mage in final fantasy 1 witch is basically the same. To me it's like using a dragon from the mythologie, everybody do it. If you want to use the word ''copy'' for this reason, you should check what Wow really created and what they really ''copied''.
Ok Wow is the most payed MMO, but it doesn't mean they created everything.

My main character is a mage in WOW, and the class I'm least excited about in Aion is exactly the Sorcerer. I don't know how similar they will be, I think we won't know for sure until the game comes out. But I'm a bit bored of the 'ranged nuke' playstyle, and don't want to play anything like that.
(I used to play a monk in Guild Wars, and I'm missing those times a lot... so i will probably roll a Priest/Cleric in Aion.) |
