Ehh, usually with elemental pets(like EQ1) each pet has it's strong and weak points. Earth is usually a good tank... it's a rock. So it usually works best for soloing. It can take a beating and be just fine. It'll probably get taunts too. Fire is usually the best DPS, like a mage, it'll get mini-nukes. Works best in groups to up your DPS output. Air... I believe is a DPS/Buff or something I really don't know much about air and water.

![]() Like I said before, I'll be using water more often for afk and "stanby and look cute in town" purposes. But obviously as a decent summoner, you should be using all of them for different situations.

Earth and water for me.
I hate the look of our wind summon. Back when we didn't know the last evolutions of wind I was hoping it would get better or atleast change. The beginning and the end evolutions look too similar, atleast for me. As for the fire, I don't want to be using the summon that half the population of SM's are drooling over.

im rather surprised at how popular the water summon is it sorta looked to odd for me like something out of the mirrodyn arch from Magic the gathering, quicksilver elemental more than water.
i always thought water would be more ranging yet fluid at the same time instead of alien without features all the others have a solid face but it but i guess that's why some people like it

To be honest, I would'nt bother using wind. Its a melee class same as earth, but its much faster. Earth has more hp though, so if you want a frontline unit, earth is your best bet. Fire i would get hands down for PVE and PVP, because nuking in a group is pretty much what you will be doing, and fire elemental helps greatly in such a case. As for PVP players fly with wings, overcoming many of you elemental's range deficiencies except for fire. And Water is a MUST. seeing as how the cleric will probably need help maintaining the group water element can provide a good cover i suspect. IN my opinion, it wont be long before i see a full party of pure spiritmasters be able to take the toughest of dungeons just by having their elementals out and nuking from afar. ill give it like a months after the game breaks out.

From my last few days of playing a spiritmaster I have to admit I used wind and water the most. Fire when I don't have wind (or when I'm fighting wind elementals, or things that hit slightly harder and has lower chance to miss). Water is awesome if you're a fan of kiting while you have aggro, it deals the most dps and it sits there to cast, so you can actually play monkey in the middle with the mob. However you don't want to get your pet hit though
water elementals have the least HP from what I've seen.

The water elemental rank 1 is a caster dps. It's the only caster pet atm (so it doesn't chase the mob around it stands at a spot and shoot at it). None of the pet has "skills" on its own, only the basic attacks. It's the spiritmaster that controls what it use. So far at lvl 19 I have heal, buff pet defense, increase next attack, and "taunt".
I'd say the pets go something like this. Treant is the "tank" pet, it has the most HP, and most defense, its attack is fairly weak, and because of that as of now it doesn't hold aggro decently against me :P. Fire is the "tank and melee dps" pet, it has the second most HP, not as much dodge as the wind pet, and it hits pretty hard. But since it doesn't dodge as much as wind pet, most people uses wind pet to dps normal mobs (so they have to heal it less). Wind pet is the dps pet, it dodges attacks kinda nice, it has slightly less hp than Fire elemental, but hits slightly more. I use this when I'm soloing mobs before I got the water pet, I'd recommend this to most people if they're not a fan of kiting things around while pet dps in 1 spot. Water elemental is the caster dps pet, it has the least hp (less than wind pet) and from how much things were hitting it for, i'd say the least armor as well. But it deals the most dmg, and it stand still (doesn't melee). I'm very lazy when it comes to healing pets, i prefer not to heal it at all (because heal pet is on a 1 minute cd, and so far it doesn't scale so well). So what I do is I try to dps it enough so the mob comes running after me while the water pet cast at it while the mob's chasing me, with the improved attack the water elemental will kill it pretty fast, but it might pull aggro from me after a while. So I slow the mob and usually the water elemental will kill it before it can touch the elemental at all. I'm pretty use to playing kiters though, so I can see how people wouldn't prefer this way if they weren't kiting. Also, I was using the wind pet when I was fighting elite mobs (especially archers, I los them then jump out to use a pet skill and then hide again behind the rock). Usually people would use fire elemental, especially because they get rank 2 of it at lvl 22, but I was being lazy and I'm impatient so I like killing mobs fast. As for elite melee mobs, I used Water pet instead and played Monkey in the middle with the mob (pulling aggro with my pet then myself etc so it doesn't really hit either of us).
