My concerns

These are some concerns I have, most of them are taken from L2 Summoner system, which the only use for a summoner is in Olympiad (1vs1 self buff fight). So, what do you think...
  • Still haven't seen any video which shows a flying summon, what is SM doing in Aerial combat? Let the water summon nuke from the ground?
  • Do summons steal exp from the summoner?
  • Do summoning cost anything, like crystals in L2?
  • When our summon is killed, do we have nothing to do but try to re-summon (seems a long cast, plus having to re-buff the summon) or wait death?

I was concerned too about what to do in sudden situations, for instance, when a Rift is open just above your head, but, if it cost nothing to keep the summon up, then you just can have the summon with you all the time.

I haven't tested spiritmaster yet nor did I party with any spiritmaster so far so... instead of answering your questions with my guesses, I will just ask to spiritmasters on korean forums. I will give you clear answers later.

pet classes are always hard to gauge strength in pvp.

most times people will go for the pet killing it as fast as they can because they usualy have no health in comparison to the caster (wich is kinda sad) and they also know the caster looses a large block of damage.

there is alot of spells that will increase your pets damage for the next 3 seconds or make it do more damage each hit. if your pet is dead how can it do any damage and how are you sapose to survive in pvp. (for some reason the spells in the wiki make have been removed)

i hope that the summon will be quick or that you can do it in the space of your fear spell (it hase been shown in a few videos and was also listed as a 10 second fear.)

i also hope that it has a low casting time and low mana cost and also is summoned at full health without reagents or we will not be a viable pvp class and be farmed by burst damage players quite easy.

Here are the answers.

1. Spiritmasters can fly(obviously) but elemental pets can't fly. It doesn't dismiss your pet just because you start to fly but if you fly too high or too far away from your pet then it will be dismissed. So... spiritmasters have disadvantage for aerial combat.

2. Spiritmaster and summoned pet are ONE, which means your pet doesn't steal master's exp.

3. You don't need any specific reagent to summon a pet. All you need is mana.

4. There are some delay for short period of time to resummon after your pet is dead.

Don't worry, I am sure devs will think of something to make it fair for them. There are tons of stuff to balance atm, and I am pretty sure that NCsoft won't release the game in current state lol, obviously.

Is there a delay as to when you can summon your next pet? I mean not after it dies, that's kinda obvious, but say you need water one moment, but then air the next, do you have to wait for the cool bar to go down or can you summon each in a relative short amount of time (like less than a minute)?

hey guys, is spiritmaster going to be like summoner in FFXI that they had pets and they were pretty weak, but constant dmg on HNM's OR is it going to be a badass like warlock in WoW that had enfeebles and stuff? im still debating if its like WoW im deff going to play it, if its like smn in ffxi im going Mage. does anyone know exactly how spiritmaster is going to work?

Atm it looks like more like WoW's warlock pets. However I hope they have a much higher purpose in PVE like what the summons did in FFXI (ie. give your party specific buffs)

You know I think they should implent an Airial form for pets so when you gain your wings your pet morphs into airial form. I think that would fix the problem I guess. Would be cool to see them morphing into Airial form

uhm...if you look at the animation....the fire, water, and earth pets "float"

and as for the wind pet....well it's wind shouldn't kinda be able to fly? hmmm maybe not...

thats a very valid point I don't see the point them being on the ground actaully they are floating already why not a bit higher altough airial for should probaly ftw .

aaah, well if they are a combo of warlock and ffxi smn thatd be super sweet , but will the spiritmaster itself be like a warlock, will it have nuking spells enfeebles, debuffs and all that stuff?
