also - what OS are you running on? if your on vista - you need more ram, at least 3 gigs, especially considering aion tends to be rather memory-hogging

the GPU will have no problem w/ aion - you wont be running max AA settings or anything but it will run the game perfect and still be mid-high range w/ that card.
if you can snag a 4800+ for cheap i'd grab that - a 3800 wouldnt be noticable enough of an improvement to be worth your while after OC'ing.

keep in mind that the gpu is what will mainly dictate how the game runs - and your gpu is fine, you just need a tad more ram and maybe some Core tweaks w/ that overclock

if your running a 32-bit, such as say.. XP (i hope you are!)

go for a dual core - no need for quad core in gaming tbh (slight difference... twice the price...)

Newegg.com - AMD Athlon X2 7850 Black Edition Kuma 2.8GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache 2MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 95W Dual-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops
would be a great bet cost to performance wise - you could OC it easily to over 3.0 and its only $70!
Hiya, yes its running XP 32-bit so I had been thinking of a bit extra Ram. Also I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to overclocking so don't want to run the risk of frying the chip just yet! Will try and bag a dual core though as you suggest - thanks for the advice guys.

No! That thing is AM2+ and definitely won't fit in a socket 939 motherboard!

squeakybum, I hope you know the difference. If you want to get a new CPU for that PC make sure it's 939. By the way, those higher clocked 939 X2s usually don't go very cheap. "Old" stuff like that is generally much more expensive than their newer equivalents since they are much harder to come by.

Yep I noticed that after I'd posted so don't worry. I know the 939's are harder to come by, so I'm just hoping for a little bit of luck on eBay ;-)

Question

Okay so, I don't know crap about processors/graphics cards, etc, so I'd like to know what I need to upgrade, if anyone is willing to help.

The main thing I'm unsure on is whether or not my graphics card is above/below/in-between Min/Rec System Requirements.

Also, is 2GB JUST to run the game, and if so, should I upgrade it to 4GB to run other programs at the same time?

I'd also appreciate some links to Processors/Memory/Whatever else that is for sale... I feel like such a noob when it comes to these things,

Thanks in advance! ^^;

EDIT: My PC is a Dell XPS410, if it matters... Its two years or so old.

What I have:

Connectivity : Broadband Internet connection
DirectX : DirectX 10.0
Hard Drive Space : 156GB hard disk space free (obviously I know that is plenty >.>
Operating System : Windows Vista
Processor : Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6300 @1.86GHz 1.86 GHz
RAM : 2GB RAM (total)
Video Card : NVIDIA 7300 LE (Couldn't find the RAM for it)

What is "Recommended":

Connectivity : Broadband Internet connection
DirectX : DirectX? 9.0c
Hard Drive Space : 15GB hard disk space
Operating System : Windows XP SP2/ Vista
Processor : Dual Core CPU 2.0GHz or equivalent
RAM : 2GB RAM
Video Card : NVIDIA 6800 with 256MB RAM / ATI Radeon x800 with 256MB or higher

I think that's a 375W PSU in there. Without having to upgrade the PSU you could get a HD 4770 darn! all Sapphire's are sold out... and some new RAM (You will want to get 2 kits. Mixing RAM isn't good.) The 4770 will take you pretty far, it's about the same performance as nVidia's 8800/9800 GT, but it consumes less power and produces less heat.
If you feel like spending more then get a better PSU and something like a GTX260 or HD 4870

If your CPU should cause you any trouble then you can worry about that later.

30gb for the Koreans? That is one huge game, wonder why it is so large over there or if its just a matter of lost in translation type error in converting what they use to measure file size.

Surely if the asian version is 30gb+, the ncsoft version would ship out the same.

I'm pretty sure NCsoft was behind the Asian version as well.

I don't know if someone else has mentioned this already, but NCSoft Technical Support now have an official page that they are keeping up to date with minimum system requirements: ---> HERE

The footer of their requirements also contains references to processors and NTFS file formats that may need adding into the original post of this thread for completeness.

Wow, whats up with that? It's not as if the Athlon XP 3200+ is as slow as a 2.2GHz Pentium 4. Sure, it might not be just as fast as a 3.2 P4, but it sure comes close. The Athlon 64 3200+ and the 3.2GHz P4 are pretty much equal though, why didn't they mention anything about that? This is the kinda stuff that makes people think moar megahurtz = powah.

I agree... that is a monster overclock What cooling are you using?

My system: q6600 quad core CPU, XFX GTX 260, 4 GB of Corsair Dominator RAM, tons of HD space, Verizon Fios.. the fastest one avail.

I think i'll be set for running it all at max settings, no?

oh! And Vista x64
