You need to keep in mind, I multitask like mad. It was one of the reasons I got a quad. I also use kernal streaming output in foobar which is VERY CPU intensive. I'm glad I bought a quad and I'd recommend one to anyone who multitasks a lot or encodes.

But you and レン。 both are the exception. You were telling people they needed to upgrade their CPU's a few pages back before I jumped in and shot you down! Those people weren't Multitasking nyerks they were players, the one guy was buying a prebuilt system I felt was decent before and you still had the nerve to Neyrk on his cpu. . . .What if thats all that guy could afford? You made no effort in even trying to help him you just said he had a "the CPU seems Low End" What if he is like me and understand thats all he will need?

Not everyone does all that stuff, when I game I game I make sure I don't need anything else unless its for the game. I make sure my work is done before I play, and that works for me cause I have alot more fun when not completel distracted by other stuff. I know alot of people who are the same way, and I know people who can't keep their attention on one thing if their life depended on it!

I love Windows 7 so far, but even it's auto-defragger isn't amazing.

I understand that you multitask, but that has nothing to do with the thread. Running Aion /= multitasking. Encoding is a HUGE reason to use a Quad over a Dual, but gaming as of now is better on a Dual.

Perhaps, but I wasn't telling them to upgrade to a bleeding edge CPU and shot me down? Sorry, I don't think so. I stand by opinions.

Actually I gave you a well written reply,for which you said "I was confused and lazy so I skimed your post," I multi quoted you, I said the exact things Wuhf here said a few posts back,I did that yesterday. After that I was told I was spewing "Propaganda" about why Dual Core's are a better investment for gaming and why XP was the godsend of of all OS's which I don't agree either I just stated it was my favorite from Microsoft. I wasn't to the point that I understood your points of view though. In which I replied accordingly when you guys finally vocalized them.(Like it was something I shouldn't know, (why keep that a secret?)

I even asked you what confused you to which I got no reply. I would explain anything I said in full detail of why I said it if you wish.

Foobar2000 is a media player with simple UI and low memory use.

I'd like to know whats going on with Foobar on you computer as to why its using a THAT much of your system and can still boast that selling point I posted above.


ERR didn't see you using a different format, I'm guessing APE has a much better quality therefore being a hog on your system?

Game runs flawlessly in max details... Unlike Champions Online, which doesn't seem to use GPU at all.

EDIT: No idea why it's saying that, but it increased my CPU usuage a lot using it.

I don't disrespect you, but I originally viewed your post as an attack. You obviously know what you're talking about. I'm not denying that. If it did look like I was disrespecting you, I apologize. The reason why I was turned off by the long post is that I have a very short attention span.

Anyway, main advantage of my quad is encoding lossless files. Even for that alone I'm happy with it, but I'm a multitasking nyerk as well! Can't complain.

These two points, seem oddly intertwined. I wasn't attacking you Iwas just stating that the adjustments you were making would barely benefit just playing the game. CPU's are used for calculations more then rendering, such is why when you use them exstensively they seem to bottleneck your GPU greatly.Thus making things lag quiet a bit in game. The point was with nothing else a Dual core with a higher clock on a game that Dual Threads and the same or similar archetecture will be better for gaming.

XP can get by with 2gb but it's a f*cking horrible OS. Windows 7 is worth getting some real hardware. Also XP won't address over 2.5gb afaik.

I've run Vista and Windows 7 32bit on 2GBs of Ram. They both run just fine, the only game that does not run perfectly is Crysis, and that wouldn't run well even with more ram. Both Vista and Windows 7 make excellent use of memory, they might use more than Xp when doing normal tasks(to improve responsiveness while navigating the OS) but they unload non-essential processes from memory when a major applications demands more memory(such as a game).

If you take a look at gaming benchmarks comparing performance of systems equipped with either 2 or 4 GBs, you will see that the difference is very small(10% increase in fps in best case scenario, which only happen in a hand full of games. Most only get a 1-3% boost), and the difference between said tests ran on 32 and 64 bit operating systems is equally as small.

I've ran windows 7 since the first beta was released, it's a great OS, but it's not THAT much better than Vista.
