Well, after reading a lot of armory stuff, i decided to join in.
I bought the normal AION pack, since the collector's edition would of taken 2 weeks to get to me, and it sits somewhere on a shelf. WHY?

Here is why: I want to PLAY AION, not torment it, so therefor, i ordered a new GPU, a 4850, instead of my old s-superclocked G96 gf9500gt (6.2 WEI in W7).

So I only have one worry now: my RAM.

System:

Intel Dual Core e5200 @ 3.3GHz @ 33°C air cooled (6.8 WEI in W7)

one stick 2Gb RAM Kingston HyperX 800 PC2-6400 @ 888MHz (5.5 WEI in W7)

Hdd 7200rpm, rest not important, of course i have room (5.8 WEI in W7)

GPU: hd4850 GV-R485ZL-512H Gigabyte, 512Mb GDDR3, 256bit. I will of course overclock it at least 1 extra MHz :P

I use a 19"CRT Samsung SyncMaster 957MB for its 2.0 dot pixel (AutoCAD needs that) and my resolution for AION will be 1280x1024@85. No greater!

I don't aim for max settings with AAx999, but a medium setting that will have at least 30fps in the most crowded pvp showdown. As far as I can tell, hd4850 will be just fine, however, I am concerned about my 2Gb of RAM. Will they handle it? And I ask this because I really don't wanna spend more for this build anymore, since I'm already behind for i7. But if it is STRICTLY NECESSARY, I'll get 2 more Gb.

I would definitely get some more ram, I only have 32 bit vista currently. I have 4 gigs, but only 3 are used because of the 32 bit. My friend has a 3.5x core 2 duo and 6 gigs of ram. Not sure what video card he has, but he gets around 25FPS in a fort. I need to get some better stuff myself. This 9800GTX isn't cutting it.

Edit: He also runs everything practically maxed, so he says. He's also on a Laptop. >.>

What happened to the other guy that had the same system?

the ati 4650 is more of an economy or multimedia card. it should be able to handle a med-high mix, probably not at 1920x1080. it'll also definitely have a bad fps drop in the abyss, crowded areas. like I said in your other post too, the athlons have been known to stutter while playing.

funny enough my new computer is running:

AMD Phenom II X4 3.2Ghz
ATi Radeon 4870 GDDR5 1 GB
DDR3 4GB

running aion at 1280 X 960 but i still get low frame rate sometimes on high settings e.g. shader highest, everything set to high. 4X AA etc.

not maxed out, but decently high with a resolution around 1680x1050 or something

I can run this game in medium high settings when outside of town and partying without issues but when i hit town i get a good amount of performance drop and when i go to fortress raids i have to turn everything all the way down including my resolution and it still has very jerky graphics.

This is my current build

AMD Athlon 64X2 Dual core 2.6 HGz
3.0 GB Ram - (xp32 OS)
Radeon HD 4770


I want to Play on 1680x1050 but that's impossible in raids and during normal gameplay it stutters sometimes when i play that so i dropped it 1440x900.

What should i upgrade to first of all get a playable performance at the fortress and hopefully have it look nice as well. I kinda assume my graphics card and ram can handle but i'd rather be sure before i run off and buy a new cpu

well personally, I don't like the amd athlon line, and I'm not sure exactly how well it can perform in it's max capacity. For upgrades, it depends on how much you're willing to spend. The GPU is also kinda lacking, while it's decent, it's still an economy model card rather than high end gaming, so I would start with that. I use the nvidia gtx260 and can max out the graphics at 1920x1080 and you can find it for $130 if you look around and wait for deals. I'd try to overclock your CPU, see how high you can get it before deciding to upgrade since the performance benefit might be minimal. If you can get it to 3ghz, that'd be a good start.

Well im playing with this, the autodect let it med-high spec on graph, but when there are 3 o 4 more ppl casting o attacking FPS drops below 10. Really dont know what is wrong

What resolution are you playing at and what AntiAliasing (AA) settings? Maybe need to tweak the settings a little more, lower shadows

No shadow, texture low

Although your video card isn't that strong, it should fare better than what you describe :/ I'd look into doing some tweaking, maybe defragment your harddrive, play around with different driver versions
