Be aware that OEM version discs can die after a couple of installs. Happened to me and several people I know. Also be aware if you buy an OEM copy of Windows and your disc dies, Microsoft WILL NOT REPLACE IT unless you're a system builder or tech certified.

Windows 7 - Upgrade Beta To RC - To RTM Milestone ~ The Blade by Ron Schenone MVP Since I'm a Technet subscriber, I was able to try it already. I've successfully upgraded 2 of my 3 machines so far with no issues. I even benchmarked before and after, there was little to no difference in speed. This only works with 7 Ultimate though, trying to go from 7 RC to 7 Home Premium or 7 Pro won't work. To the OP: If you have a retail box version of Vista (Full retail or upgrade), your key will work with the 64bit version without issue. I've read that the OEM versions aren't as flexible, but I've never tried it myself. Last edited by ChangWang; 08-24-2009 at 08:14 AM.. |
