Compilation of 1.5 errors and (hopefully) solutions

This thread is just here so there's a one-stop-shop for any errors people might have with 1.5, and if there's any solutions to be found for them. I'll be updating this as much as I can.

Unless the MD5 checksums do not match (see below) then YOU DO NOT NEED TO REDOWNLOAD THE CLIENT. Only redownload the client if the MD5 checksums DO NOT MATCH.


Calculating MD5 checksum:
A lot of people are having trouble calculating the checksum with the command line utility, so here's an easier solution:
Download WinMD5 free from http://www.winmd5.com/
Open the zip file and run WinMD5 free, the user interface will pop up.
Click Browse, then find your downloaded file.
Under Current MD5 checksum, the value will appear. The correct values are:

Full Client Installer results: 8e9c0484f262f09ebd28937bc07353bf
CBT to OBT results: a8c79c7ea45e6013fbc9feab2f7055d0

• Downloaded the patch, ZIP file is corrupted
  
  Problem: When trying to extract the patch or full client install, your zip program will report the file is corrupted
  
  Solution: The patch and client have been compressed in zip64 format, and older versions of compression utilities are unable to extract it. I recommend downloading the free and open source 7-zip (7-Zip) and extracting using that. It's also been reported that WinRAR and WinZIP will work, but make sure you download the latest versions.
  
  It is also possible that the file is ACTUALLY corrupted, which you can check by comparing the MD5 checksums (see above)

• GameGuard error 124, 153 pops up in web browser when loading the game, prompting to reinstall.
  
  Problem: When you load Aion, GameGuard will open up your web browser and redirect you to this page:
  nProtect Gameguard FAQ
  
  Aion will continue loading normally.
  
  Solution: Happening to pretty much everyone. Close down the web browser and ignore the page, the game will still load fine.
  
  Edit: This issue is fixed, update to patch 1.5.0.3

• This program is unavailable in your country.

  Problem: After applying the 1.5 patch, a message box will pop up saying "This program is unavailable in your country." This occurs in many different countries.
  
  Solution: Wait. This error is related to GameGuard, the servers haven't been updated to work with the new Aion patch. It will be fixed with the small 1.5.0.3 patch. Don't panic, this is happening to the majority of players.
  
  Edit: This issue is fixed, update to patch 1.5.0.3

• Could not load file or assembly '_Launcher'

  Problem: When trying to open the NCSoft Launcher a large error message will come up with .NET error messages along the lines of 'at System.Reflection.Assembly._nLoad(AssemblyName...) '
  
  Solution: This is caused by an error in loading the _Launcher.exe file, which is the actual NCSoft Launcher executable. This can be caused by a number of problems:
  
  Incorrect .Net Framework version. NCSoft Launcher requires .NET Framework 2.0, but I recomment the latest version. The .NET Framework is up to version 3.5.
  
  Missing _Launcher.exe. Delete and re-install the NCSoft Launcher folder, this should correct itself.
  
  Incorrect permissions on _Launcher.exe. This is the case if the first line of the error message is "Error: System.IO.FileLoadException: Could not load file or assembly '_Launcher' or one of its dependencies. Access is denied." This can be fixed by changing the permissions of _Launcher to give 'Everyone' full control or by running the AllowFoldersToBeUpdated.exe program in the NCSoft directory.

Generic solutions:
Try these if you are having any problems, because they can help fix many common errors. However, if you disable your anti-virus/firewall, do not leave them off.
Delete the /Aion/bin32/GameGuard folder. Run Aion again and let it redownload GameGuard
Disable your antivirus software
Disable your firewall
Run the NCSoft Launcher in Administrator Mode (Vista/7)

I will add errors as I find them. If I miss any, please reply to this thread.

Important: anyone who is having an error that cannot be easily fixed, make sure you log a support ticket with NCSoft. Without people logging tickets they will not know if there are any issues and a lot of these problems can only be supported by them.

Some of these, like the .NET Framework error, are unrelated issues, so it'd be nice to get some help with them.

The .NET frameworks, like directx aren't exactly backwards compatible. If a program needs 2.0, you should download 2.0 (and if you wanted, 3.5 also)

It seems this error has something to do with using different sound packs. I had the japanese sounds as a replacement for the english voices in my game and always get this message. I renamed the ENU folder and ENU.pak in the L1ON folder and ran the repair so it would download the english sounds and it goes to the login screen now. When I switch the folders and .pak again I get the error again.

I'm not sure if this is the only thing causing the problem but it solved it for me. Likely has something to do with files being corrupt or not matching the region you're playing in.

I downloaded 7zip like you said, didn't work.

Tried to run the setup despite the error, everything was installing properly until ~80%.
It stopped at C:\...............\AionEU\Sounds\music\.....2.pak
sigh.

Have you compared the checksums? It may actually be corrupted. The common error is the ZIP will not open at all.

It seems like the problem is with the data2.cab file, I tried extracting it with Winrar, Winzip and 7zip.
Winrar and Winzip failed to even start the installer, 7zip was able to unzip it - still giving the same error, but atleast the installer worked till the data2 files had to be installed.

I haven't checked the checksums no. But do I have to?
When I download something, I expect it to work.

Tried the setup again and now the installed stopped at 20%. :/

Well, not much NCSoft can do about that That's why they have the checksums to make sure, the file can be corrupted in transit, often by the download system you're using: this is also why BitTorrent is often recommended, it will check each part of the file and redownload just that part if it's corrupted.

I tried BitTorrent earlier this day, 4000 seeds against 44000 peers. It didn't even want to start downloading, so I can't imagine it taking less long than the 30Kb/s NCSoft Launcher.

I remember using a program a while back that would take a corrupted file and analyse it, then you'd send it to someone who had a working file, and they could create a small patch that would repair the file for you without having to download the whole thing again. I'll see if I can find it, might help save you from having to download the whole thing again. If anyone else knows what program I'm talking about, can you direct me to it?
