How many subs do they have in Asia? 3 mil or something? NA probably has a few hundred thousand boxes bought or so. Honestly if they did something like, "Pay us $1, and we'll buy a new anti-hacker program", they'd get enough money to buy one

I'm no hacker but I want to play Aion and GG is preventing that from happening. So it's a good thing there are ppl out there who know how to disable it. Now, I am able to enjoy Aion GG and trouble-free.

I bought Aion from NCStore and when i bought it I didn't knew anything about GameGuard. I dont see any option on my account to cancel preorder and if it is not possible imo NCSoft are walking on thin ice if they start banning ppl who disable GG. If they ban me i will definitely ask my credit card company to return me money and if that will not be possible i will explore possibility to sue them. I find GG completly ridiculous piece of sh.t. This is not what i was paying for ! and i would definitely not preordering Aion if i knew it involves spying and hacking my computer.

According to some this thread may soon be closed due to what appears to be NCsoft pressuring fansites to shut these threads down. Some speculate that the admins are tired of seeing them, I think it's NCsoft trying to cover up the bad publicity that GG is getting and the fact that they are not going to remove GG from Aion.

It's more likely that like any other game developer, NC doesn't want people posting methods for hacking their software (or software that they're using). It's funny how many of the people crying most about GG are the ones that actually use rootkit software (like certain AV programs).

I'm all for no hacking and botting. I don't do either and am a firm believer that if you don't want to earn it then you don't deserve it. But for pete's sake the bloody program can't even protect ITSELF let alone the game!

I doubt it, people have been saying this for years and it's still here. They are even closing threads on the official betaboards that even mentions GG. They know it's a problem and don't care and don't want to hear it.

I really don't care if game guard is in Aion to be honest. I have no real issues with it at all an I use Firefox while playing without any trouble, I listen to radio stations online as I play an I talk to friends in 2 vents at once. I dont really see the issue to be honest.

Apart from that, "some" here are obviously annoyed because they want to duelbox or use "Bot type programs" This is why GG or whatever, is a good thing. Those of you who can dl a program yet don't understand it, are blocked from annoying the rest of us. All I can hope is while GG is causing problems for some legit players I am sure it will be fixed as the devs have said. We should ALL be hoping for a zero tolerance policy from Nsoft on bots.

We are the best chance Nsoft has of catching bots so we should all be trying hard while playing Aion to catch the real bots out an have them perma banned by Nsoft. No warnings,no temp ban just...BAM! your out.

CCP(Eve Online) have the best policy on RMT/bots etc that I have ever seen.....they will take away all the cash on your account an put you into the red by same amount so you cant do anything, you cant leave system your in, you cant sell an buy anything you cant repair your ships, you cant do a dam thing till you get your cash flow back up to 0. Your account is also flagged for future actions if they catch you again, its awesome.

I agree, but we are only one aspect that they could use. The IDEA of GG is good but the implementation is terrible. What good is an anti-hack program when the program itself can be hacked? That means it might as well not even be there.

And even people who have done NO hacking and have little advanced knowledge can disable it. A quick google search and you have the files needed, then you copy and double click on one. That's it, GG is useless now.

I fully believe that if you don't want to earn something then you don't deserve it. But GG has and does keep honest players from playing. If they can make it operate as it is supposed to then good, if not then it has no purpose and is therefor useless.

All other P2P MMOs use an anti-hack system that was designed BY the devs FOR their game. Aion is the only one to use such a bandaid as GG.

YES people will try and hack, YES people will try and bot. Can they do it even with GG here? YES YES YES YES

GG changes nothing and only causes issues with honest players, NCsoft would get many more subs if they would jsut get rid of it and use their own system.

To make a game bot and hack proof you only need:

1. To make the code server side so it cannot be accessed by clients
2. Create and custom anti-hack system for the game
3. Make the game and the anti-hack software run with the same .exe file, so they are one and the same
4. Use live and active GMs to listen to the players and ban those that might get through
5. Have an active player base that will report those that hack or bot (NCsoft already has that)

They already have the player base, use active GMs and ditch the failguard and Aion will only get better. And those with more programming knowledge than I have said the same thing. I don't this game to become infested with bots and hacks and with GG in fore front I see nothing BUT that happening.

PLEASE NCsoft! We are begging you! We don't want this wonderful game to fail because of a useless piece of software!

yes people can get around gg, but it also blocks a lot of people from hacking as well. hackers dont freely share their work, especially when they have to spend time trying to bypass gg. regular people would have to be in the underground community or pay for it. without gg, hacking becomes much easier, which means there are bound to be more hacks shared publicly. i don't really want to see more hackers/botters than need be

Please think about your post for a minute. You completely contradicted yourself, if GG is the game's hack prevention, and if it is bypassed, does the game have anymore protection?

NO

The sheer fact that it can be disabled in the first place means that it is not preventing ANY bots or hacks. IT IS USELESS!

Actually, as my sig says, I was not a "hacker". I don't know the regular hacker haunts. I have, however, bypassed GG without any difficulty at all as I was not able to play the game with while GG was operational. It took all of about 2 minutes, and that's only because I read the readme file that was with the hack and verified that all the correct files were in the correct places as stated in the readme.

If I can, and have to, bypass it in order to play the game, anyone who wants to bot or hack can bypass it.

So, I have no errors or anything from GameGuard, but I know people who do.

I've been studying GameGuard, and a lot of the info that is common knowledge is disturbing enough.

I have bought 2 Collectors Editions, and I still really want to play this game.

But every fiber of my being is telling me that I really shouldn't. The threats of people who say GameGuard should be removed but won't actually follow through and quit the game are empty threats.

I want to play Aion so badly, but I just don't know if I can possibly support a company that supports the use of a program that hooks onto your active processes, hides itself, and causes so many problems that a company would rather tell users to disable their antivirus and security programs than address the issue that the program they are pushing is intrusive and buggy.

NC, I say to you, this makes no sense. I work in the telecommunications industry, and when we have problems, we solve them for our customers. What tends to happen when we don't solve problems for our customers is that they switch providers. The equivalent here is choosing to not play your game.

I have been playing in betas, pushing Aion heavily to friends, and have even formed a legion that is going to be awesome come retail. I am pretty dedicated by way of social interactions to play this game when it comes out.

And yet, somewhere inside me, something is telling me that I am wrong, and shouldn't support this product.

In other words, I don't know what to do. You need to do something about this archaic and intrusive piece of software that you are supporting. Take a step back and look at this from a user security standpoint, NCsoft. Is it worth it to push this kind of Big Brother nonsense on your paying customers? The answer is "no" every time you think about it, for sure.
