And I recall how horrid XP was supposedly when it first came out. MS has developed such a rep they could make the perfect OS that comes on a solid gold disk and people would still complain.

But yeah Vista had alot of issues though most had to do with vista ready comps and third party drivers around launch. They're not there now and I've been running Vista Ultimate 64 for a year now and haven't experienced anything like the horror stories you read about or someone's friend had.

To be honest I had more issues with XP then I did with Vista.

I use Vista on both my laptop and my desktop. No problems. Some games don't work on it, but the games are either old or the people who make them are too lazy to update them.

From personal experience, I've used Vista for half a year now and I haven't crashed once.

If Vista works bad on your comp it could very likely be one of 2 things; 1, your comp doesn't have the requirements "needed", 2, it's new to you and you have no idea how to use it.

Sorry to dissapoint you,but customers in a repair shop are not "a friend " or some vague person . We never had so much to do as when Vista arrived on the scene . And the problems - despite you not experiencing them- are still present and new ones have arrived with SP 1 as well. It's also not just issues with driver-support , this is a very common misconception that's out there , but major stability issues on perfectly fine systems . This has to do with the amount of redundant code in Vista .

I'd agree if these were isolated cases but you can't say that when you see the amount of folks coming to have their system fixed ( and those were PC's with Vista pre-installed in most cases and brand new top-of the line PC's - most of them were put together with Vista in mind ) .

Yes I agree it took me 5 hours to post this as my Vista crashed 84 times.

Sorry to disappoint you but you are one of those vaque people. I work in an IT department and have friends who work in 'repair shops' and have seen these issues. I'm happy for you that your customers have horrid luck or aren't willing to learn the little bit of self maintenance to keep their machines running.

If it wasn't for idiots 75% of us would not have jobs.

Vista has been stable for me; The only BSOD I have had where due to hardware driver issues.

That can't be Dez, our expert here said Vista has major stability issues.

Maintenance on brand new systems ?? But obviously you know everything - at least you think so ...so we'll just end this thread here.

Yes the aforementioned vista ready labels.

Those brand new machines were not capable of running it.

I'm glad you can admit it.

It's all fine with me .Use Vista all you want , fork over the $$$ only to find you'll probably have to do it again in a few years for windows 7 .

Bill gates will be absolutely thrilled .
