Hey guys, making this topic for those people who are having trouble with Aion.

I will start off with a few issues that i see very often and have a solution to. As time goes by i will add newer issues that can be solved.

Also if you guys don't see your issue here you are allowed to post it here so all the pros can help you.

1. Cannot Connect to Authorization Server.
This can be one of several things. The server could just be down, your account might not have a game key, or you may have to do this:

Go to your NC Launcher and click the arrow next to Aion's tab and go to Properties. Then enter:

-ip:206.127.153.247 -port:2106 into Extra Command Line Parameters.

Close the Launcher and make sure you Restart the Launcher.
(this might also lower your ping)

2. Aion Will Not Start
Remove or rename winmm.dll from the Aion\bin32 folder

After this is done re-install NC Launcher and you should be good to go.

3.When I load Aion I get a black screen, the message "out of range", or something similar.
If it appears that the game is loading in a resolution your video card or monitor drivers do not support, please try the following:
1. Right-click Here and choose "Save Target As..."
2. Save this file to the root of your game installation folder. Should be C:\Program Files\NCsoft\Aion or C:\Program Files\NCsoft\Aion
3. You may get a warning to replace the file that already exists. Choose yes, to replace the existing file.

This will make the game load at the 800x600 resolution. Once in-game you can change the resolution to anything you wish.

4.Error Code: 3 (PatchPathNotFound):
There was no way found to patch from version '1.0.2.11' to version: '1.5.0.6'.

Find this file in your Aion Directory: \NcSoft\Aion\Version.ini
Open as Notepad, then manually put in the right updated file.

5. Aion Client has encountered a problem and needs to Close.
This pretty much means 1 of 3 things.
your hardware is not working properly due to missing drivers.
corrupted files.
your computer does not meet the minimum reqs.

For corrupted files.

Close NC launcher

Delete Bin32 folder in your Aion directory (located in c: program files/ncsoft/aion)

Then open the launcher back up and repair aion.


Do this for your drivers.

Download Driver sweeper: Guru3D - Driver Sweeper

Then go into safe mode and tell if to search for all drivers and only remove the ones you know arent supposed to be there.

Then reboot and hopefully get it all fixed.

You also can uninstall all the drivers and get the drivers meant for your computer.

This should help because it sounds like your drivers are failing due to something.

6. Bad ping and lag spikes.
Here do this and tell me what happens.

Make sure launcher is closed fully.

Open cmd and type "tracert" then the ips listed below
206.127.147.28
206.127.153.247
206.127.155.130
216.107.250.81 (I recommend)

ie: tracert 206.127.155.130

Then which ever one does not time ou the most is your pick.

Then open your aion file and find addcache, open it in notepad.



Then right click edit and for the ip put the one that worked best for you. (for help look at the attachment)

Save and open launcher.

Then right click on Aion > properties.



then paste: -ip:your best connection -port:2106 into Extra Command Line Parameters.



apply and restart launcher.

Then go restart your modem. once your internet is back up launch Aion.

Once in game type /ping

If its Under 100ms you are good.


7. Manual Patching.
Being revised.


8. Major Graphical Errors.
This is a problem where your old drivers are interfering with your current ones.

What i tell everyone to do is get your video cards current drives and download then somewhere you will remember them.

Then Download Driver sweeper: Guru3D - Driver Sweeper

Next go into safe mode and tell it to search for all drivers and only remove all the graphic drivers.

Then reinstall the current ones you downloaded previously.

Reboot and hopefully get it all fixed.

9.Trojans

What this is your AV thinking one of Aion's files is a trojan because the file is build off of a root kit file which all trojan files are. Just a mistake by the AV, you do not have an AV.

First thing to do is find the file your AV has quarantined and tell it that it is not a trojan and if you can tell it the whole Aion folder is Safe.

Then after you have made sure it does not see any Aion file as a trojan open up NC launcher.

Right click AION and tell it to repair.

Once it has finished try booting. works most of the time and if it quarantines another file repeat the steps.

You also might want to just get Avira or AVG.

10. AMD Athlon 64 X2 Fix for Rubberbanding
There is a simple fix from AMD called the Dual Core Optimizer. You can download it here:

11. Steam bought Aion chat not working

I have some instructions for those who are trying to get their steam purchased version of aion to work in game.

If you bought Aion off steam and wondering why in game chat doesn't work then here is a solution for you.

Look in your games list and find the NCSoft Launcher.
Create a Shortcut.
Go to the properties of the shortcut.
In the target field you will add /LaunchGame=Aion to the end. So it should look something like this:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\NCsoft\Launcher\NCLauncher.exe" /LaunchGame=Aion
Hit Ok
Then go to your steam games list and right click the NCSoft Launcher and go to properties.
In the name field change it to Aion.

Now the icon should launch Aion and have steam in game while showing you as playing Aion.

12. Manual Patching

I know alot of ppl have problem that i have so i decide to help them cos its really disturbing every new patch release
so its easy way to do it .. but just need do some small trick or small change in name of link to get it

1. need to open a Notepad ~ its Help alot with this typing .
2. take this link as example

3. Open Aion Patch downloading to know what u need to download (next step on photo)

I can login fine, and accept the Eula. However, at the server select screen, the moment I pick a server a popup appears saying "You are disconnected from the game server." What is peculiar is that I can't even press "ok," after 30 seconds or so the game automatically shuts down and a browser pops up leading me to the Aion official site. I've tried every server.

PLEASE help me.

I tried what you said about checking the trace routes and they all aren't that bad. They time out around eight but only one of them even have an ms above 15... and it was only 96 (for the first ip you listed). My ip was already set as the second one you listed and when I tried to change it to the last one, I got a cannot connect to auth server error.

I have played this game at max settings for days on end with no problems but now I have lag like I'm swimming through molasses. In-game ping checks never go over 300, and my fps is pretty much 1. Max it gets to like 5.

And I'm pretty sure it's not my connection because I run guild wars fine, even with vent/streaming music/other programs open. I have verizon...

Any opinions would be appreciated. The only other thing i found notable was that when I do start lagging like a mofo with my terrible frame rates, my whole computer pretty much has a meltdown. Vent starts freaking out, skipping and sometimes having a super high ping. And everything else lags too. The browser, anything I try to type, etc... I was wondering if my computer was overheating or something but I don't know how that would all of a sudden come into play... sigh. It's a laptop, maybe...

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, the 1.5.13.4 launcher no longer seems to have an Aion > Properties menu. There is a File>Settings, but it just leads to dialogs and no way to add "-ip:your best connection -port:2106" into any command line parameters.

In program files\NCSoft\Launcher I can find a launcher.config XML file, not to mention an entire Config\Default subdirectory full of additional XML files. It is not at all clear where to place additional command line parameters in any or all of these.

However, all of this may be academic because the current IP address (.247) is giving me the best times before it times out. At this address I'm getting lag spikes that last 0.75-2 secs every 10-40 seconds. This is just enough to make combat impossible. NCsoft is completely silent on the issue, so unless you have any better ideas I'll be dumping Aion due to technical failure - first time I've had to do that with an MMORPG in over a decade. Therefore, any additional suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.

Should I be worried if there isn't a winmm file in that directory? or is that how it should be anyway? I'm not able to get past the NCSoft splash screen without a crash-to-desktop - I've been trying a process of elimination and I've now gone as far as a reformat and clean install of windows to no effect. Any help would be appreciated!

There's tons of different reasons why Aion won't start that's not covered in this FAQ. What's your computer specs?

I realise that; As I say I've been going through a process of elimination and I merely wanted to cross this off the list

However my specs are:

Athlon 64 X2 4800
Abit KN9S
2Gb Corsair XMS 6400 DDR2
Radeon 4970 HD (1 Gb version)
Using onboard sound
250Gb WD HDD

Running XP SP2
Direct X 9.0c
All drivers upto date

I don't have a winmm file either ^^ the video card seems ok if it's the rebranded 4870, not sure. There's been several people that have been having trouble while using the athlon 64 x2, I wonder if that's a big problem. I tried Aion on my athlon 64 x2 3200 and it experienced stuttering graphics on it. While when I used the same video card on my quad core, it was smooth.

Are you using any firewall or antivirus programs? probably not since you tried a fresh install, but idk

Hmm, interesting. I'm running it fine on my laptop which is a Core 2 Duo machine, unfortunately I don't have any other processors or motherboards to swap in to check that out...

The graphics card is a Powercolor one and I'm not running any other firewalls or antivirus programs atm - it's literally a fresh install of windows with just drivers and Aion installed.

So selete Bin32 folder in our Aion directory then repair Aion and it should work.
if not make sure you have all your drivers updated.

This is my problem. I frequently get this error and it force closes. It's an access violation in my nvd3dum.dll which sounds like a graphics card error right? My 8800 GTS should be all updated with the drivers and such. I'm not sure if it's ram though =| could it be that? Could it be broken somewhere?

Unfortunately none of these work:

They all time out at the tinet.net. I can play but I have latency of 400-500ms and I am on the West Coast of the USA with a 20mbps connection. Using speedtest.net and I get 40ms to Florida and less than 60ms everywhere else in the USA except Aion servers.

I cannot use the Europe IP address because it will not even let me log in since I am on the US servers. Friend from Australia has better ping even when not using lowerping.
