weird choice of procesors for that benchmark, I dont know why they left out the E8400 and the Q9450...those are probably those most popular ones out now.

It was mostly comparing the quad CPUs. The black edition 9950 states that, "it is easily overclockable to 3.0gigs." Of course at 135 watts you will need a hell of a fan to cool that puppy down.

That was a 9850 BE not the 9950. As refrence the 9950 is about 5% - 10% faster than the 9850.

Hmm i recal hearing about The black edition AMD along time ago and it's basicly the same as the regular version only that every setting in it is unlokced for overclocking.

I already said that the Black Edition got a free multiplikator and since AMD CPUs don't come with FSB you overclock through the multi.

Because they almost caught up and hopefully can bring competition back to the CPU market.

ATI finally showed up after 2 years and Nvidia is scrambling a bit and will be forced to make better cheaper cards.

Exactly. AMD has been behind Intel, but never by as much as people seem to think. For the price AMD surpases Intel.

Actually, i saw some funny stuff in a different PC forum (computerbase.de 300k user) and it seems that allot of user have heating problems with the GF 280, (115° <-- overkill) 88 of the user voted and 40% of them get those problems.

I wonder if they have OC'd and left the fan on the default 35C.

I had yet to hear of this problem.

Nvidia has been pretty good with fixing and replacing if need be. And lately I have been advising people to get ATIs over Nvidia you just can't beat the price vs. performance they give.

Some people think I'm an Nvidia fanboi. But up until the last 2 months you were a fool to buy an ATI card for a mid to high range PC.
