Hmm... my laptop meets or surpasses all the recommended requirements on paper (including the graphics card - GeForce 8400M), but I still worry a bit because laptops seem to not get along with games in general as well as their desktop equivalents. (Unless, of course, you have a gaming machine, which mine is not.) Has anyone successfully played Aion on a laptop, with graphics turned up to a reasonably pretty level?

Sorry if this is a dumb question; I freely admit that I know just enough to get myself in trouble. :P

If the Beta works fine on your computer do you think the actual game will?

I'm hoping this runs on my lappy. My bro's best PC ran it no problem Max Detail.

My Lappy is 2.3 Dual Core AMD Turion X2 Ultra 64
4gb Ram

With Radeon HD 4530 with 512mb.

Think this might cut it or too untrustworthy with Laptops?

Played a whole bunch of other MMOs on this probably Lineage 2 being the most graphics boasting (got LUNA Online and Monato Espirt which are fairly graphical) and runs them all fine at max settings but they are either oldish games or not graphic intensive like Aion

What do you think?

Except you'll need a hell of a lot more HD space.

Frankly, it will run smooth for about the first half of the game when you are not encountering a ton of people but once the open pvp starts you may lag like an old race horse on vallium.

Reading all these posts i get the good impression the recommended specs are pretty low. How realistic are those recommended specs, anyone who played beta or caion care to comment ?
I'm running

Windows 7 64
Amd 6400 x2 @ 3.2ghz per core
4gig ddr2 800
ati 4870
2 x 1tb striped

I think your machine will run it just fine. From my experience in the beta minimum spec really is just that - the bare essentials. You can play the game but its slower and less fancy since Aion is using such a stunning engine it makes sense to have the spec to match it really - otherwise you're loosing out on a lot of what the game has to offer !

I played it on my laptop and it really lost a lot of the things i appreciated when playing on my pc i.e. the fluidity and smoothness that the game has to offer was lost as my laptop struggled to keep up!

Heh, Mine was only JUST at minimum spec due to my graphics :P

dual core 1.66ghz
2g ddr2 (erhm... i think its 667... but i can't remember its probably lower)
On board graphics - intel 965 express chipset (phail!)
HDD 125gig... had about 20 gig free...
vista 32 :P

EDIT:

Well Loft I think you'll be just fine tbh! My Pc is:

6gig DDR2 667
Intel Quad Core 2.8 GHZ
Nvida 9600GT
Vista 64 Sp 2

And it ran like a dream and the only thing i got over you is an extra core so don't worry

Lol yes yes it did...

I hooked it up to an oxygen machine, had a saline drip up and periodically fed it cookies through the DvD drive.. but it made it!

It was no where near as good as playing on a proper PC though, the fluidity and smoothness of the game was completely lost so I would really think seriously about trying to run it on anything as low as mine or even anything a little bit higher :P On board graphics phail like ninja-bees in a smoke trap.... *ahem*

I think you guys should not worry too much about the recommended specs of Aion.. I'm quite sure that you all will run it smoothly ^^

During beta i used two machines.

My current PC :

AMD X2 2.3 ghz processor

4 gigs dual-channel ddr 2 800mhz

Radeon HD4650

Asus MSA78-CM Mother Board

Using Windows XP x64

Ran like a dream, which i expected seeing its more than qualified for the game

My old PC :

AMD X2 2.0 Ghz Processor

2 gigs of fairly low-end ram

Radeon X1650

PCchips Motherboard (Forgot the exact model)

On Windows XP SP2

Also ran like a dream.

So both my more high end PC, and my slightly less than Mid Ranged PC ran the game great, they did an awesome job of building this game to run smoothly even on a minimal system.
