Help removing a virus?
Hey guys - somehow I picked up a Mal-Vundo virus and I ran a sweep with my Trend Micro Antivus 2007and like only 2 out of the 40 files could be quarentined - and I can't remove them without quarentining this virus with my program... Any help please?

Cyber syphilis is never good!
Oh if you were using IE what version? 6 or 7? You can find out by clicking Help then About Internet Explorer. What is the link to the virus information Trend found? Normally when it finds a virus it pops up a link that takes you to the Trend web site and displays the virus information. Can you provide the link here? Would be helpful in helping you remove it. |

i loves me some free AVG, firefox, and spybot-search and destroy. with these softwares i get alerted the minute a virus enters my computer (which isnt often) and from what ive read Firefox is the most compatible browser that is safer than Ie. Opera couldn't even allow me to watch you-tube videos (dont know about now but it wasn't compatible w/ flash)
dont know if im 100% protected but ive yet to face any eerious problems |

...I don't know how to put this...
One anti-virus on active duty ( AVG here, very tough heuristics, turns up false positives ), one in the wings ( pref bootable disk, a crazy Russian one or something Kapsersky that turns up an assload of false positives ) is all you need. Throw in a firewall and good web-browsing habits and you're more than good to go. There is zero point in running multiple anti-viruses. If I have issues, I also have... Sophos anti-rootkit, SUPERAntiSpyware, and Hijack This, but I only run those and my backup AV when I need to. __________________ I am principled man, one who cannot in good conscious, support theft. Yeah, I only put on all that stuff because I'm a showoff, and because it's a shared computer, and I can't afford for it to get viruses. Yay, paranoia!
My antiviruses do each have their specialties though, like firewall, scan speed and accuracy, and other stuff. __________________ Quote:
