Templar does ok in flight combat, we are not the king though like rangers/sorc are.
One thing to notice : if your enemy wants to flee, fly away while in flight combat if he's not dumb he will do it easily.
Templar have no way of not letting someone go elsewhere if he finds out the duel is not in his favor.
Sad but true

Would not stacking Evasion be the better choice to try to avoid most attacks and let the random number generator give you enough blocks per 15 seconds instead of mitigating less than 65% of the damage?

why to get blocking more often? for less dmg incomeing in your *** the more u have the less dmg u recive when u get hited, about evasion plate vs leather = leather have more basic evasion , why to waste slots in evasion ?because if i want a good amout of evasion u need to fill some slot whit evasion. Evasion is for type assasin and ranger.

Does Evasion not equate to dodge and thus not being hit at all? Not being hit at all >>> Blocking for less than 65% mitigation.

Furthermore, Plate has Evasion too, Plate Armor - Armor - Aion

Think of it as it was real life. Do you really think that heavy plated knight really would avoid damage by evading targets? Try to wear 50-60 kg of armor with shield, and tell me how's your chance to evade fast moving hits? Templars are tanks. They don't evade hits, they're too slow and too heavy armored for this. Blocking and parrying hits - that's another story. But because our block is more important that parry, Templars tend to rather increase their block chance and block damage amount.

Thxs for the good FAQ I will definately roll a Templaer like tanking - can we use two handed swords effectively - like to use them when soloing sometimes and swap to sword and shield when in groups or PVP

You have a point here except a lot of our dmg comes from reactive shield skills which require a block and not dodge or parry :/

But you only need to successfully block once, or possibly twice, every 15 seconds to use your reactive shield skills.

Are there not only 2 skills that require a success shield defense prior to use? (Shield Blow - 24 second cooldown and Shield Counter - 15 second cooldown)
