I will build a freakin PvP Tank and i have already some great ideas for Stigmata and stuff. iam building pvp tanks in all games i play.... and iam sure... here i can do it really good.

tankers getting rocked by rangers/sorcerers that only in PVE or did you mean it in PVP too? this will be my first mmo i focus on being a tanker all the way

From whatever PvP videos I have seen, I have gathered that the tank's damage is not as weak as it may appear. For one thing, the damage they do from skills is comparable to ranger damage from skills.

However, they are getting worked right now from Sorcers/Rangers because of lack of root/stun/slow skills though. It seems that Templars just can't catch up to their constant kiting. But on a good note, the damage from ranger to a Templar looked pretty low. The ranger in that one PvP vid had to hit him A LOT. It may just be that from the videos I've seen, the tanks were low level, but hopefully Templars will get some half decent disables.

Proper use of Stigmas and some skill in playing your class will help in 1vs1 PVP for sure. It's all in the strategy.

Other thing that a person must know (before choosing a tank) is that tanks are the meat shield support class, not the crazy DPS killing machines. If someone doesn't understand this simple thing then Gladiator could be a safer choice to start with. Loads of HP don't mean that a character is easy to play.

Just like for the paladin's class in wow : you can't be invincible and be a damage dealer at the same time. Templar's will certainly have a key place in PVP but don't ask for the moon

I really do hope that the templar isnt ignored in group pvp. Really does need skills that can protect other teammates so enemies are forced to try take you out.

IMO anything will get rocked by melee/magic range. Thats wat they are there for. Unchallenged damage dealing from afar. But once better plate is available and more templar skills that block and absorb ranged damage and close range quickly somehow im sure it won't b too bad.

I agree about the sorcerers but not rangers.
Take Lineage 2 for an example (since it's a NCSoft game) killing archers as a tank in L2 is like stealing candy from a baby. All you do is use hamstring/root or whatever run up to them, shieldstun and the fight is pretty much over.

that is true for l2 now but until C5 tankers had no root ability and only the DA had hamstring, but yeah archers are a push over now unless they get a lucky lethal shot, I hope for something to that effect in aion, Snares, stuns, and high armor value

tbh i hope that templars won't be able to kill any other class( of equal lvl ofc). but on the other hand i hope that it will be very hard to kill them (will take forever).

Tanks should rape phys dmg dders even if it takes some time, and have some high magic def, so even if you can't kill that nuker, it will take him awhile to bring you down.

No one should be able to "rape" anyone. Sure, every classes should have some kind of disadvantage to the obvious counterpart (mostly random factors - lower or higher possibilities), but it should always be possible to beat every class with every job (at most rates should go to 60/40).

Actually a system like that wont work well in a mmo, some kind of "rock-paper-scissor" system is needed, if a melee dder can bring down a tank, what the point on using a tank in pvp? If a single dps class can overkill a healer, there is no point on healing, if every class can overcome the range disadvantage, there is little point on using a ranger, and so on.

all i can honestly say is that templars will definately be going on the drawing board many a time with many tweaks to come. and Mostly for the better. Melee class is definatley going to be at a disadvantage to the range classes. And i suspect that players will figure out ways to fight on the move or find out a way to pvp without ever being touched by a melee class.
