Have you Chosen the Path of Templar?

Hey guys, Im just curious how many of you wish to choose the path of the Templar? Also what draws you in to this class?

Personally the biggest reason that drew me in sadely is the epic name XD Templar is a pretty epic name. Also because I really hope they will make the Templar something different from other mmos instead of being some massive hp/armored warrior who really can't do anything on their own. Also they are usually not so good for PvP being able to dish out little damage and don't really support their team very well.

I hope that the Templar in Aion will have this absorption thing they talk about. The ability perhaps to use mana to cast a shield on themselves that soaks up damage. Also to be able to soak up damage one of their team members takes with a damage transfer ability. Mainly i just want there to be a reason to actually attack the Templar than to ignore him like all other tanks in mmos because they aren't a threat, more like a tree in the road you just drive around.

What can I say, I pretty much always play a tank in MMO games so it was a fairly easy choice on what class to choose. :P

And the translation of the skill really sucks, but I think Templars might actually get a "transfer pain" sort of skill at around level 25 if I'm not mistaken.

In the end the Templar will be THE tank. He is the guy who absorbs all the damage and hopes the cleric can heal well. Im sure they will let you perhaps go down a path that lets you do more damage than normal, but their primary role is the tank, and nothing is wrong with that. All that armor, you're gonna look bad***

I will be playing Templar for one main reason

Someone has to tank

And honestly I think Templar will be the least played class

It seems as though most people will be playing Aion for PvP, and pure breed tanks are not considered strong PvP classes

Plus having Gladiator, a heavy armor DPS class, will greatly reduce the number of Templars

Look at WoW, most Warriors wanted to wear heavy armor and swing a big sword for big numbers

The number of Warriors that wanted to Sword'n board was a fraction of the number of DPS Warriors

But I view this as good news

Less Templars = less competition for invites and gear

Templar will be the first class I chose. It's just something new for me since I usually play a DD class. I played NIN on FFXI, but it's not really the same since it dealt with more evasion rather than real tanking. Should be fun and quite interesting.

I totally agree, who wants to be one of those dime a dozen people?

x_x Actually, I would have gone Templar but Theron took it away from me. So, I'm being a full healing Cleric, the other much needed class.

I chose Templar because no matter what game I play I know I always end up the tank class. I'm just a natural with it I guess, and I have a great nack for staying alive when everyone thinks you're going down

I like it to be the leader of a group and i really love it to sacrifice myself for the whole group. Thats the way i saved many groups when everything went wrong... running away with a whole bunch of monsters until i die. ^^

Hey guys after playing a few mmo's i usually chose the path of a damage dealer weather its a dagger for damage or bow for range and help out in the PVE's, for Aion i was thinking of going tank all the way, since im able to run 2 accounts on my PC i was gonna make a primary Tanker and secondary buffer so when the day comes that we can all enjoy and play Aion i'd be able to lvl up and make parties my question is that i have never made a tank before in any mmo to a really high lvl i would start one then would re-roll to a damage dealer to try and help out guild, i loved the damage just not the HP. Those expierenced in being tanks is other MMO's if you can help me out i would like your expierence's as tanker as for Aion i will go down the past as a templer. one last thing some threads i read ive seend some put dps, what does dps stand for?

dps = damage per second

Hope that's what you're asking ^^

Tankers always have an unbelievable advantage in PvP: No one cares about them. Since they have so much HP and a huge quantity of P.def, no one actually bothers to first target them since it's quite pointless as long as he's being healed.

Hence, even if Templars deal low damage - which was confirmed already by beta players - no one will try to avoid you since they keep in mind that you are not going to be of any harm. However, you'll be able to freely root and stun people. Stunning a healer for example, is pretty much game over for him.

Also, keep in mind that even if you deal low damage, you'll survive for so long that you might just be able to wipe your opponent.

All this is applied to partyVSparty PvP. 1vs1 should be a different story but... who cares about it when we'll be rolling masses and sieges at the abyss?
