Why do templar knights think that they have to sacrafice themselfs.

I know im a noob and all at mmos, i haven't played in real bad@$$ games, but i do know one thing about mmo's. and is that u played either to help ppl like a tank or to kill like an assassin. When aion of eternity comes out i decided ill be a templar knight for various reason, reason one is because they have a shield and sword . reason two is because they have great defensive skills . and reason the they have some healing skill i presume . but those are just some reason of why i like templar knights, but my main reason is so that i can protect my comrades not by sacraficing myself but to protect them with my shield and sword. i know i know templar knights aren't that great in damaging but thats not gonna stop me from slashing my opponents. But the main thing that pis_sing me off is saying that were tanks. Reason being is that u wanna be templar knights think that tanks are defense, but last time i check the had a cannon too . so before you through yourself into battle ready to die think twice before your through away your life for one monster. live to kill another day.

The idea of a "tank" is protection. As a guardian, it is your JOB to ensure the survival of your party. You do this by making the enemy think you are their biggest threat. Flashy armor, taunting shield bashes, magical abilities to physically PULL the enemy to you, as well as a high damage output.

Anyway, as stated above, its your job to ensure the survival of the group. You're the first line of defense and if you're a good tank or have a good healer, you're the last line of defense.

You also need to make judgement calls though. If your health is dropping faster than you know your healer can handle or you pull a group of mobs you know you can't take, its still your responsibility to protect your team. This is where the "sacrifice" issue comes into play. I'd rather I die than all of us, so you'll see me saying RUN as I grapple the adds and do my best to get their attention.

It is what it is. And hopefully everyone survives and the Cleric comes back to res you.

Im glad u posted that comment knite because i can see what your saying now. i really didnt understand the meaning of tank up to this point, so thank u for verifying that for me. So does that mean templar knights dont get any strong offensive skills. Oh and i wont let the templar knights die in vain shade.

Let's break it down shall we? Say you have 10 points in 3 different fields. Attack/Defense/Speed

Assassin

Mage
8/1/1

Tank
3/6/1

And then you have skills/buffs/debuffs to help augment your raw stats. Then you have player skill itself. With these factors, a lot can happen.
A rough example, might be ez for u to understand.

What do u mean by this? Do you mean buy weapons and sheilds, or like repair them?

But yeah, ive always admired tanks. I'm always either the healer, or the buffer. Im tired of being in the back. I want to be the line of defense, and factor to in which my comrades lives stand in. I love that, and i love what the Templar stand for.

swords mostly but i assume u can refine shields too
