Im not entirely sure this is true, or consistent between classes, but ive lvled a chanter, an SM and a temp into and past the 20-23 region. On all of them i sort of hit a wall once i hit 21, until i hit 24-25. A friend of mine has lvled 4-5 chars to low lvl 20ish and is getting a bit tired of the game, which i think is because he consistently hits the "wall".
Yes grinding will take up more and more of your play time, but if you find some nice spots and get some good geawr its really not that bad. I really found 25-29 a breeze since i went NTC nearly every day. Once you hit 30ish you can start doing FT, which shouldnt be a problem being a templar. The xp wont be great since youll be going with 34-37s but it breaks up the monotone grinding. __________________ Chanters - It's just better with bacon and cheese. |

My advice, and what I'm doing at 22, is form your own groups for Lava Caves. Make sure that no one is more than 1 lvl higher than you and just grind LC till 25. It's very tiring and not that much better than solo grind but you should be able to form groups very fast especially if you can hook up with a cleric.
At 25 just do NTC. Honestly I am not going to do any quests or grind anything other than NTC once a day. It's not worth it. Once you hit 29, form grind groups for IC (again, make sure no one is more than +1-2 lvl higher than you). I'm not sure what to do after 33 or so, but FT sucks though you might be able to do ok if you treat it as a grind group rather than the typical hey-lets-spend-half-our-time-avoiding-mobs-because-all-we-care-about-is-the-1%-chance-of-a-gold-drop-that-will-get-ninja'd-anyway group. If you follow that route and don't do any or very little solo, I'd stack defensive stats (HP, Shield Defense, or if using leather then Evasion) and not bother enchanting anything. |

22-24 grind on the firefly sparkies in morhiem they give depending on lvl 6k+ exp per kill and die fast at 24 grind on the desert sparkies by the outpost near the oasis. Grinding those lvls is goin to be much faster than waiting for a party for LC and alot less painfull on the pocket book. As a templar you should have little to no downtime using a herbal treatment between each fight and maybe buy some small HoT pots.
Far as lvling speed with the lil downtime it will almost even out to that of a ranger cuz after 19 with stunning shot they become a nice mana nyerk and need to sit and rest or spend money on pots but dont have to worry about HP if they know how to effectivly kite. Rangers/Sorcs/SM will out lvl just about everyone if they know how to play the class they can just kite elites all day long gettin a shitload of exp per kill. Edit: I also recommend using +Atk/+Crit stones in your gear it will help you grind faster. Some say to use HP but the way i see it is as yes you have a bigger HP pool but you are taking more dmg than i am cause i have more atk and am killing my mob faster so it evens out. __________________ Quote:

I just wanted to give you guys an update.
I finally turned 25, and I think the main thing with the leveling is that 22-25 is horrible as Asmodian. I am right now having a blast grinding in the abyss ![]() |

Yeah, i have leveled every class to the mid/late 20s on asmo now, and level 23 and 24 suck for all classes. Just no good place to do them. Things pick back up after that.
As far as templar leveling speed, yeah its slower than most classes=P Id say templar is faster than cleric before 28 when clerics get their one stigma dot, then i think templar is the slowest solo grinder. But its not that bad, with decent crit you can farm mobs at your level or below your level. The exp is slower but you get drops/money and its relaxing because you are never in any danger. You can solo mobs higher too at about the same speed but there is downtime and i dont like it as much. then again im always broke so i enjoy the additional kinah:exp ratio of killing lower level mobs=P __________________

I dont know why ur lvling so slow.
my experiance is, lvl 1-10 in 2.5 hours lvl 10-13 in 4hours lvl 13-16 in 5hours lvl 16-20 in 10hours lvl 20-22 in 5hours lvl 22-26 in 18hours So all in all is 44hours. Round up, it only takes 2 days to lvl to 26. =D |

Tanks tend to lvl slower then dps class because because they do not dish out mad dps they just get whacked on

Sorcs can hit 30 in two days if they know what they're doing. This is without being twinked out, too.
Most people will not hit 26 in two days though, DPS class or not. If it's your first time around, you have to get used to the game and your class before you become efficient. This can really slow you down, depending on your learning curve. But I suppose if you're twinked out, you could do some serious grinding as a temp. I've got a lvl 17 alt with a +10 weapon that kills mobs her level in under 6 seconds -- even less if she gets lucky with random damage. It's ridiculous. If I were fulltiming that beast, she'd probably be 26 in two days.__________________

I'm kinda in the same boat as the OP. I finally hit lvl 24 with my temp. I guess maybe it can be due to my gear but it seems like I kill really slowly, have to pot/heal/sit every 2 mobs or so, etc.
I mostly use 2h GS right now. Should I be using the sword and board when soloing? It just seems like I kill slower with the sword and board (obviously since the dmg on the 1h sword is lower than the 2H GS) and as a result, i take even more dmg since the mob has more time to whack at me. Maybe it's coz i have a Sorc and a Sin. They kill things fairly quickly with a much lower downtime. Leveling this temp is such a pain in the *** that it almost feels like it's not worth it. |

Yesterday I recorded a few minutes of gameplay of my templar having a really hard time levelling and hardly killing stuff cause we don't dish out any damage. {/sarcasm}
What it shows:
I even missed a few Face Smash procs and interrupts of bad skills cause of recording video slowing my system down considerably. So, in reality you can kill things even faster losing even less HP than I do. Edit: Video deleted on youtube because of broken sound. Re-edited and uploaded to Xfire.
