I'm 31 glad, and whenever I see templars I just go the other way, the fight will go on for a few minutes, i'll pop a billion potions but eventually templar will just wear me down. Haven't won many fights against templars, and good rangers, every other class is cake, except an ocasional SM who plays the class well.

Actually in Beta atm the moment a low level templar should own an equivalent glad due to a bug which allows the templar, if they are fast enough, to double up on a chain procs. Bug is 'known' and I will certainly miss it, hehe.

That's a bug??? I noticed it as well and it will be sorely missed on my part. I only got to lv 16 on the last beta and it was the first one I have participated in so I didn't experience much pvp. I did duel against a gladiator at the same level as myself however and I didn't find it to hard to beat him. He only got me to half health at the lowest. Of course Templar's do have the armor of empyrean lords skill which raises their health by 50% and makes them take less damage from other player characters. So that certainly makes it easier to beat a gladiator considering my health becomes over 2k.

A lot of people are comparing skills and stats on this discussion, but the biggest point is being quite over-looked. A few have said it, but no one seems to grasp it. Skills and stats only mean so much. It's the player behind the character knowing when and how to use those skills and stats, that makes or breaks PvP.

Warning: I didn't read past the first page. Just saw this post and had just finished writing about the topic in another thread so thought I'd copy paste it to ya.
To prove a point, I invite you to watch this video. YouTube - Broadcast Yourself. The gladiator makes wonderfully quick work of an assassin, who slaughtered his sorc friend equally fast. Sorcs, by the way, can drop a gladiator in one combo and do so in many other of the 3v3 videos. However, after the assassin, out comes a templar and at 3:40 we see the templar do 90% of the gladiator's HP in damage almost immediately. He smashes his HP up heal and runs as soon as the paralysis wears off but he's quite simply defenseless. His attacks do little to the templar (check 3:55, where he actually manages to knock her down. This spells death for any non-chain/plate class almost immediately) and then at 4:10 she rips through his entire HP again in one combo. Templars are, quite simply, the most ridiculously overpowered class in the game right now. Hopefully the 1.5 patch nerfing one handed weapons will balance them out, we've yet to see. |

well... lets think about this. you have a class that uses a very large weapon, and a class thats designed in almost every single aspect to counter classes with very large weapons, even multiple classes at the same time with very large weapons. a glad would need to really understand game dynamics, their class, their opponents class, and also be quite the inventive player to be able to beat a class that is designed to beat them.
