There are no mastery trees as there are in other games. How you build your character will be with the stigmas which grant different abilities for your class, or manastones which let you customize your character's weapons/armor with stats such as +HP, +Parry, +Mres, ect.

the stigma system seems new enough to me, but "manastones" have already been done. i have at least seen these types of items in WoW, with their socket system.

regardless of what is new/already done in this game, i am very excited to play Aion, simply because it is a fresh new experience. i regret not being able to play WoW when it first came out.

playing MMOs in my opinion is most fun when you play them at the beginning, and much is new to everyone to discover... when doing well in the game isn't brought down to a science.

i can't wait for the beta this friday!

SO would you say there is considerably less customization in this game than there is in other games?
Not that this will make a huge difference in the gameplay but im just wondering...because I like how you can level 1 thing and WoW and actually change your playstyle in 3 different ways or even more.

Idioteq,

from everything i have seen/read about Aion thus far, i have come to believe that there will be overall less customization than there was in WoW.

although, this game isn't even out yet in America, and much can change/be added. For instance, i recently heard/read about NCSoft releasing a patch that enabled more types of stigmas, which i would imagine only equals more customization.

my point is that im sure this game will have a decent amount of originality. For me, a big kicker is the fact that the graphics and environments in this game are GORGEOUS.

I think it's not as deep as WoW but it's certainly more streamlined in my opinion. I'm sure the stigma system will be expanded once they figure out balancing. Visually though the game is much more appealing.

If you're familiar with it i think you'll find the classes a lot more like Lineage 2. Titles, stigma and stones will give some uniqueness but not what you'd see in wow. Then again 90% of people end game in wow have identical cookie cutter specs too so meh.

Aion's system is similar to games like Lineage 2 and Everquest (at release). Build isn't a factor so much as playing style is. Given the scope of the character builder, I don't think there should be any issues about feeling 'unique' - and the simplified class structure makes the game streamlined and easily accessible.

I was not saying that the game should be like WoW at all, just wondering. I didnt play Lineage 2 far enough of EQ at all so im not sure. Besides the way the game looks...the kicker for me will be the combat...i played WoW which i feel has very nice smooth combat pretty much and then Warhammer...which was like fighting with action figures. Hope this beats them both.

Is it me or Aion looks like guild wars with better graphics. I agree with idioteq, game play should be fun and not monotonous.

I think Aion's manastone system gives more customization then any other game out there. Gold gear has 4 slots on it thats 7 x 4 for 28 slots that you can customize. So if you went all +85HP stones with your templar thats 2380 additional HP (thats alot) or many, many different variations with different stones.

Then you have the stigmas, which you have access to more then you slot further customizing.

Then your weapon can have a godstone.

And you dye your armor....not a big thing but some poeple really like that I guess.

With the typical Tree specs theres usually 1-2 ways to go with your toon, sometimes 3 with the manastones theres limitless ways, That doesnt mean there wont be a "best way" to go by the min/max people, but this is true in all MMO's aint it?

yea doesn't seem like "best way" will apply for a bit. which is allways nice in mmo's. i'm a big fan of dye'n armor. and changing weap skins to your liking... its all about custo. imo
