The main problem with Templars using two-handers is the lack of skills to use with the two-hander. With a shield equipped, you can just do so much more (and many more stuns). __________________ ![]() |

in 3v3 tournament vids i've seen templars switch between a normal sword and a chain-sword when casters come out. do chain weapons have a greater attack distance?
I'm planning to 2nd set a greatsword for punishment IV and punishment of an elysean lord (out of date skill names :/ ) they're the two highest damage moves for a templar. IV requires a greatsword, and lord stuns for 3 seconds. i dunno what y'all think, but if you've got a 50%-ish crit rate, that's basically a 2 shot for a squishy class. good timing can add shouting or weakening severe blow for an even more extreme pain. Also, from the betas i've found a greatsword to be excellent whenever i find myself solo grinding, this being before i've made any crit+ or attack+ items. I don't know if the speed of a greatsword lowers its worth once you're critting every other hit. at around 2x i definitely out damage my sword with my greatsword, though. |

It's not a chain sword it's an extendable weapon
. Adds 5m to your melee range, resulting it to be 7m. Grinding with a 2H as a templar is an heresy, you miss all your counters and half of the dmg you deal to a mob. Punishment is a "high" level skill and if you really want to use it, just macro it /w a weapon change and then go back to 1H+board. Also, did i mention both were sigma skills ? If you use 2 slots for those you gonna be SOOOOO gimped in pvp. Bye bye the Stunning Strike, Armor of balance, Armor of Interception, Thrilling Roar & Indignation combo. __________________ Pamz - 45 Templar C-Aion Zikel server. Well, when you've got an endless supply of attack skills to spam, starting at 19 when you complete the basic 3 strike chain set, it negates the slow attack speed of the greatsword, so you're not really missing out on much.
as far as the two punishments, its a work in progress. last i checked, 7xx damage is rediculous, and i got my fill of god mode combos in the last game i played. You've got an endgame temp on Caion, and what better use for an engame character than to test endgame stuff? go pick up Punishment of Empyrean Lord I with all your hard earned monies and see how much you do normal and crit with a sword and greatsword of equal status. I think its a pretty valuable skill, since its the highest damaging skill templars have, as well as having a stun attatched. Its sort of like our nuke; just as people are getting the feeling "hey i need to run" they get slammed for about a 2k crit and stun, be even scarier in indignation. for clarity, what do armor of interception and thrilling roar do? in general, i don't really like skills with a number greater than one after them. Indignation, Stunning Strike, Punishment OEL. Those three i'm definitely getting, Strongly considering Armor of Balance, and part of me wants taunting roar for the reveal-invisible-targets bonus effect, as well as obvious tanking reasons. anyway this is a greatsword thread so why am i ranting about stigmas? >_< |

Ok, let's start with the questions :>
Armor of Interception lvl 44 iirc (not sure don't quote me on that i'm too lazy to check AA): Increases your magical resistance values by 800 for 30 seconds. Thrilling Roar lvl 48 : Increases the Enmity of 4 enemies around 10m of yourself, and for 4 seconds inflicts Fear and Movement speed decrease on them (granted i couldn't test it, the Korean templars that you saw on those vidz use it) I really can't get rid of any stigma just to get the 2H sword one, plus at 45+ with good gear you block a lot so with a shield you constantly negate about 55%+ dmg (melee only!). That's a lot. I don't see myself switch, it's not "easy" to do, we European/NA players have latency and moves don't fire as fast as Chinese players, so weapon switching doesn't help. Guess you can give it a try if you really want to, but since i won't give up any stigma (therefor switching macro won't have any impact) i can't add more . |

Just like Inambour said there simply isnt enough space to use a 2h stigma. I notice there is a delay while switching weapon, thus making it even worse.
btw. how much do lvl 45 stigmas go for or where do they drop ? i never see them on AH and barely anyone links those. |

1.5 they're will be advanced stigmas. Now these slots don't have to be used to advanced stigmas you can put regular ones in them too. So now you can have 8 total. I'll prob be using the extra slots for some 2h abilties.
True you lose a lot of defense using a 2h but the extra damage at times may be worth it sometimes. Sense I'll be in a group probably on an assist train I'll prob run a 2h most of the time. Unless I need to switch to interrupt with shield stun or I'm getting focused on by melee/rangers. Worked like a charm in daoc we'll see in this game. |
