For me it depends on the mood at the time. The more i do quests the more i know how to finish them more efficiently. So it comes down to experience and knowing how things work

Played allot Of MMO's, and they all have that initial learning curve. 2nd 3rd and beyond it's easier to level. My first cleric was slow to 10, but by the time i started my 6th toon, it was seamless. quest to quest, grinding mobs along the way. I dont' think any of them really classified as 'slow'. My scout was just as fast as all 3 warriors, 2 clerics, mage, another cleric on elyos side, warrior...

1-10 was the slowest for me on the Priests that I raised, so since you're basing this on how fast you got to 12, I think that has a lot to do with it. Actually the Scout was the second slowest, too. My ranking from fastest to slowest 1-10 would be.

Warrior
Scout
Priest
