better prefered *OPINION OF OTHER CLASSES AND FUTURE PARTY MEMEBERS*
I know there is already a poll asking what people will pick when they know for sure they want a warrior class. On the other hand, for the people that are not going to pick a warrior class and just curious, I want to know, what do OTHER classes prefer in their group? I myself as a ranger that loves PVE will prefer a templar that can hold aggro well. Gladiators won't make me feel too confident about going on a run. For gladiators, if I wanted dps, I'd find myself a Mage or maybe even an assasin, otherwise you know, I love me a good tank

Probably in the beginning of the game Gladiators will be able to tank as well as Templars, but as they get into the higher levels they might not be able to tank as well as a Templar.

Exactly, that's one thing that peeves me off. When someone wants a certain class to do everything. Might as well just give Mages heals and let archers use a bow and a shield at the same time. >:O! I'm not saying that healers can't do dps, or gladiators can't tank a little. But they should excel at their role, not excel at someone elses.

I'd love to duo with a templar... he tanks while my water spirit nukes... I hate to kite.
That's for PvE... for PvP I don't know yet...

For example, i want to be a Sorcerer, i know that problably by being a Cleric, i would have it more easy to find partys. However i know that. I'm not ever gonna ask for the Sorcerer to have Healing spells, so i can concurr with the Clerics position. In my POV: Templars = tanks Gladiators = Dps'ers and in very ocassional situations, Off-Tanks.

If gladiators can tank as well, or only slightly worse than templars, its a bad thing in my opinion. I'm not gonna play gladiator, but if they can tank well, that sort've defeats the use of their two-handed weapons, which is probly one of the main reason people will play them. If the gald were to tank, just in heat of the moment, i would guess it would be like the temp is either dead (low health and cleric out of mana) and the glad has to step in to take a few blows to save the day. Off-tank obviously.

I'm glad that I could make a thread that people would actually take the time to think about and reply to. As for me, coming back and reviewing posts since I opened up this thread I would like to conclude that the majority (including me) would find it irritating if gladiators could tank as well as a templar. Like many said already it would just take the point out of being a templar. The previous post to me, I'd like to comment that they probably wouldn't have even near as much armor as a templar or as much health. If anyways has played World of Warcraft here, they should know small twinks to your tank makes HUGE differences in armor ratings. So as I said, can't beat a good ol' trusty tank, but of course there are always those rare occasions where not too strong a tank is needed and a glad is good enough... FOR THE MOMENT. Although these people will still have to know what they are doing.

For PvP me and a cleric would do just fine. I provide the cleric with protection from other ppl, the cleric provides me with heals. The same goes to PvE, even tho i'm a gladiator the dmg I cause to mobs is big enough to keep the cleric agro free, since the cleric heals and buffs only he/she wont have that much threat.

Me for being a SM would depend, if my party can't find a good tank, I got 2 options, make my wood element tank, since it has nice HP and Defence, and I can heal it while the cleric healing it also, but then I don't know how good he will hold the aggro, on the other hand it's the same as asking a Gladiator, when we got a Gladiator, I can transfer to full DPS also. But still..Templar should be the MT, Gladiator OT. What's the point in playing Templar if Gladiator is the same tanker?

Take a lookie here (translate the page with google translate). Thing is, even an assassin can tank (3 stars out of 5 on that scale they give for the classes), but that doesn't mean it's beneficial for one to tank for you. Hell, mages can tank, just be prepared to cry after about 3 seconds of DPS. I somewhat agree with not allowing classes to take over for others, but it happens in all games eventually; druids in WoW are a substitute for everything, and they weren't supposed to be as good as the class they copied. Same kinda thing happened with the assassin class in Aion where the stigma allowed her to use a polearm, which kinda made gladiators obsolete in the matter of dps. People will finds ways to extend the usefulness of their class. |
