If I'm correct he is speaking about alchemy and cooking. While cooking can be leveled with almost zero investment (Farm mats and cook them -> sell food to the NPC) Alchemy actually can make profit by selling the wind serums to the NPC. My friend made a LOT of kinah that way.

As far as handycrafting is concerned.. nope every white Lv23 necklace is round about 7000 Kinah minus.... IF you farm all the mats by yourself. ... NYERK.

I was trying to sell the blue greatsword for 950k but couldnt find a buyer so Im using it myself. I guess i'm really lucky always getting a blue with craft session I decided to run.

The system is some what whacky at times. Yesterday I crafted a full set of Durable Noble Steel armor, not weapons but got some crazy results. This might help a bit. What I did was tell the person how many mats that were needed for 5 sets of armor, in our case it would be for 25 sets of weapons. The first thing I did was make enough chains and plates for 5 tries on boots. I critted on the first try. Then I created some more chains and plates to replace the ones I used when making the boots. Then I created the chain gauntlets. It too critted on the first try. Then I again replaced the items used and moved on to the paldrons. The first 2 failed to crit but the 3rd critted. Again I replaced the items to start the chest plate. 4 tries and no crit but the 5th critted on the chest plate. Finally I did a shield the 2nd attempt on it critted. My friend took all the non-crits and disenchanted them so he could sell the stones. Because he farmed most of the mats and only bought the fluxes, he ending making way more off selling all the non-crits than it cost to make the armor and he still had a ton of mats left over. It just seems like doing it with at least 5 tries to make the armor you are more likely to get it than just having enough for one.

That's nothing but simple math, nothing crazy about it.
Proccchance lies between 20-30%. Lets be pessimistic: 20%.
So every 5th item should be a crit .... should .. heh
You want a blue swoed (double procc).

You need:
5x5 = 25x white/green sword mats
5x green sword to blue mats

That schould give you one blue end lots of junk in most cases.

From what I can remember...

Made 5 swords, 2 to green, 0 to blue.
Made 5 daggers, 1 to green, 0 to blue.
Made 6 daggers, 1 to green, 0 to blue.
Made 7 daggers, 2 to green, 1 to blue.
Made 2 maces, 1 to green, 1 to blue.
Made 4 swords, 0 to green.

So overall 29 crafts, 7 to green, 2 to blue. A little under 25% on my white to green, a little over 25% from green to blue.

Iron was
8x white

Titanium
18 White
3 green > 1 Blue

Worthy Titanium
21 White
3 green > 1 Blue

Adamantium
1 green > 1 Blue

I laughed so hard at a double crit from my first adamantium attempt Was happy though, it's completely random.
I've done 8 sadness hammers and not one noble, but i'm 5 of 6 for toxic swords. Go figure. Doesn't matter they sell well regardless.

If I had to give a % I'd say 15%.

Personally I assume a 25% crit rate and base my cost analysis around that. That means if you craft 16 whites, statisticaly 4 will crit green, and of those 4 one will crit blue on recrafting as worthy.
Total: 12/16 whites = lose money, 3/16 greens = break even, 1/16 blue = needs to make up for the whites and then some
If the blue and green are selling on the AH for an amount that won't allow me to make a profit on the above estimated rate I don't bother crafting it.

And no my actual rate never matches the above...sometimes you get way better rates (yay!)...and sometimes all 16 come out white and you wonder why you even bother.

I haven't crafted much, but so far no proc weapons for me. I did a run of four daggers for a guildy but none of them proced. I have been saving up mats, so i'll have to give it a go. Sad thing is I have a decent weapon and would need one of the double/triple proc swords for lvl 35. Not sure what my odds are there

i found for me its normally a 1 in 6 chance of going from w -> g
i normally dont use that old wife's tale of crafting with full dp
