Well here it goes...
Usually i do like the knight feeling. Be the first guy to go in a battle and last to go out, the starter of the pvp, be able of get hitted many times without die, etc... I also like a lot the looks of shining armor with sword + shield. But on many mmorpgs i've played one thing allways bored me, i can get hited but kill someone on pvp is almost allways a pain, ok knights are'nt meant to be that much powerfull, but on close querters they should have been able to be something to be feared. Unfortunaly that is not what we see in most of the mmorpgs around. A knigth endup being mostly a support for raids and a useless class for pvp. Many people don't even like them for most of the grindnig partys once they do small dmg...

No knight means , no raid party, and on a pvp nobody to do the first hit without die after it. Knight is on of the needed classes on any decent clan, Usually on a Raid in L2 for an example if the knight die the party dies also, unless someone ress him pretty fast.
I'm pretty interesting on how the shield of a knight will handle the ranged dmg, from both archers and mages. Has anyone heard if it will be able to block magics? Specially the one's with the throwing look (ie: fireballs).

Don't be so sure they added this feature on Lineage 2, and makes no sence you not be able to block a fireball with your shield (ok, stun with arrows make even less sense - what l2 devs smoke?
). I can already forseen a fireball coming in my way and for some strange reason insteed of hide myself behind my shield, i go wild and think "Wht the heck, let it hit me i have so much hp and def it will not even scratch my armor!", 1 sec later i'm frozen and 2 secs after it i'm dead.

Hope so usually nc don't care much about knight's, they are mostly only a tank that can't do much.

Hmm well if they go the way they were planning with as the knights take more damage they are able to use different abilities it wouldn,t be to bad.
Also seen them blocking melee attacks in vids in a def stance but hard to get info from just watching them seemed negated tho.Hopefully soon they'll release more info on it once they reveil its finalized name like SM.

The way I see it, in real life, everything won't go straight to the shield. Archers will aim for the part of you that isn't behind the shield. Also, if you are swinging your sword at your foe and a fireball comes at you, theoretically not aimed at the shield, should it go straight to the shield and it it? Usually if you are not wanting to get hit, you'll go sort of defensive, stay behind the shield, look around etc.
What would be a nice setup would be to have 2 separate stances; First you have the idle stance, how you are out of attack mode, normal running around and wacking stuff with your sword willy-nilly. Then maybe have a stance that is defensive based, a sort of 'Shields up!' stance, which increased shield blocking against all objects (maybe boosted if a knight is nearby? Think 'You watch my back, I'll watch yours', or how the 300 Spartans used the shields). Possibly slow down you, or have an option to root yourself for 99% blocking, I dunno; Then, have a 'Swords out!' stance, where you are given access to strong 1v1 attacks, maybe a few arc attacks, and as you attack more, your damage gets increase a single point or something. Now that sounds awesome, so to balance it, need to have a Archer with 'Achilles' heel' which will knock a player out of the stance, and the knight will have to re-engage it manually (no cooldown), or an assassin to do a sort of backstab skill to stun/damage the tank. That way, if a Knight is taking a pounding by a bunch of people and he switches on his Shield Up stance, and he gets knocked out of it somehow, it doesn't mean death every time. Now you see why I'm studying to be a game designer : ) Can't just think of how to make a class better, have to have the checks and balances or else PvP just become 'Who has the best [pvp rocking class] build?' and there won't be a swapping of top PvPers, it'll always be 'How to combat the #1 guy'
