tyl's translations
I'm going to be posting some of the earlier translations that I posted on my legion's forums here because I'm not really sure where to put them, since I'm not really sure if they are already on the wiki or somewhere out there on the site. My translations are based on the chinese sites, which might or might not list the original sites they were taken from.
On a side note though, could I just check if any of these general gameplay info has been put up in the wiki yet and where if it has? Parties chinese original This page is regarding the party system, and it seems that the aion party system has combined the advantages of various other games. - Maximum party size of 6 - Party leader is able to determine the number of party members and loot distribution - Players are able to use shortcuts to select party members quickly, F1 for self and F2-6 for the other party members Party member information is on the left hand side of the screen. Players are able to view the buffs and debuffs of party members via this screen. One can see the location of party members in the map. There are 3 types of loot distribution: - Finder's Keepers: Whoever picks the loot gets it - By turn: Regardless of whoever picks the loot, it is distributed by turn to each party member - Leader: Only the party leader can pick loot (Can be used during raids to consolidate the loot) There is a 'looking for party' matching system. WoW players should be familiar with this, players can enter a few conditions to search for suitable players and then party to level. The left most button on the picture above will open the friend and party search window. The friend system can be used to search for one's friends and one's blocked list. The 'looking for party' system has the following conditions: name, level, location, party limit and type of party, that can be set. Travelling chinese original There are two main methods of travelling in Aion, one of which is to fly along a specified route and the other is to teleport from point to point. These two methods together allow for three travelling types. Different map, far distance travel/Point to point teleportation The world of Aion is composed of many maps linked together and moving from map to map required teleportation. It is not possible to walk across from map to map, at least this applies for all the three maps of both the Elyos and Asmodeans currently used. Thus players need to find an NPC to teleport them from map to map and this service is only available in major cities for a fee. The advantage of this method is the time saved, especially since locations on different maps are very far apart. Flying between the two locations instead will take a lot of time and this is obviously due to the design of the zone transition in game. Also, all new characters that have not completed their class change (Level 10 and below) are unable to teleport this way, hence all new characters can only train in the newbie areas. Same map, short distance travel/Flying along set route WoW players should be familiar with this means of travelling. Mainly, for moving between two points on the same map, there are a few specific routes and locations one can fly between. This doesn't mean that the player extends his wings and flies freely, but rather an NPC and a fee is required to fly the player from location to location. The player will not move instantenously but will instead extend his wings to fly along the specific route. During the journey, the player is unable to control the character but can take the opportunity to enjoy the scenery. Capital Teleportation/Teleporting from point to point in the same map This third travelling type is only available in both the capitals as the capitals are extremely huge, hence there are teleportation statues sited at various locations in the capitals. Clicking on the statue causes a portal to open up allowing the player to reach his destination instantly and is the only example of teleporting in the same map. For now, this only exists in the two capitals and a fee is required for use. Titles chinese original The title system is a means to increase one's statistics. Players can complete various quests to obtain various titles, which can be changed much like one's equipment. The titles are reflected in front of the character's name. (Red Box) The titles can increase (or decrease) the statistics of the character and differ from class to class. Caption: The title appears before the name and can be easily changed. Caption: Aside from showing off with the title, it can increase the character's statistics. Obtaining a Title What is known now is that players can obtain a title through the main quest. It is estimated that there will be more channels in game as well as hidden quests to allow players to obtain more special titles. |

Very useful. Thank you for the hard work, tyl! Editors and Supevisors, any information you feel that needs to be included into the Wiki?

More stuff. All these are from CBT1 except the last one but I don't recall any of the patches having said anything about any changes, so I'm assuming they're unchanged. Also, if anyone wants pics, please refer to the chinese sites, there's quite a number of relevant screenshots there, though the interface might be outdated somewhat if they've altered it in CBT3.
Warehouse chinese original The warehouse in game is divided into two types, one for the character and one for the account. In the beginning of the game, the character warehouse has 24 slots and the account warehouse has 16 slots. Simply speaking, if you wish to transfer items between characters in the same account, you just have to place the items in the account warehouse slots. Increasing Slots The slots in the warehouse can be increased. What is known now is that you can get 9 slots if you pay an NPC (10000 qina? from pic). Only character warehouse slots can be increased but not account warehouse slots. From CBT2 patch notes: Warehouse: (Character, not account.) (Starting level is 0 with 24 slots) (Level ; Slots ; Cash needed for level) 1 ; 32 ; 3000 2 ; 40 ; 20000 3 ; 48 ; 90000 4 ; 56 ; 340000 5 ; 64 ; 1150000 Backpack chinese original Each character will have 27 slots in one's backpack. When all 27 are filled, a translucent 28th slot will appear (in the bottom left corner of the picture above). That is a thoughtful design that allows players to store an exceeded item temporarily when they forget to clear their backpack when it is full. One can also increase the number of slots in the backpack. What is known is that in CBT, there is an NPC trader who can increase your backpack by 9 slots for a fee. (Currently only 1 expansion can be done.) From CBT2 patch notes: Backpack: (Starting level is 0 with 27 slots) (Level ; Slots ; Cash needed for level) 1 ; 36 ; 1000 2 ; 45 ; 10000 3 ; 54 ; 50000 4 ; 63 ; 200000 5 ; 72 ; 700000 Death chinese original Rules of Death - On death, the screen will turn black and white - On death, there will not be any drop of money or items - On death, there will be an experience penalty and a period of post-death symptoms. - Post-death symptoms will cause the player's abilities to drop and HP regeneration rate to decrease - Post-death symptoms can be accumulated, hence repeated deaths can cause increased post-death symptoms. - Higher level players have an higher experience penalty on death. Rules of Resurrection - There are two types of resurrection, one is resurrection at current location, the other is return to save point. - On death, selection of return to save point will bring player back to last saved point (same as 'return' point in village) - There are three methods of resurrection at current location: 1. Priest classes learn resurrection at level 9 and this skill allows for resurrection at current location. 2. One can use a 'lifestone' on one's death for resurrection at current location. 3. Others can use a 'resurrection stone' on a dead player for resurrection at current location. - Regardless of resurrection method, the player will have an experience penalty and post-death symptoms. Rules of Returning - Save point for resurrection and the 'return' point is the same - There is a female statue in some villages and safe areas on the map. - When speaking to the statue, one can decide if to set this as a save point, termed 'soul engrave' in game. - Once a save point has been selected, a normal 'return' or resurrection by the player will be to this save point. - There is also an NPC next to this statue that can remove the post-death symptoms for a fee. ['return' refers to teleport back to village spell - a little similar to L2, just that L2 has a random point of return in the town] Dyeing chinese Vid/Pics on page followed by short writeup translated as follows: The current colours available are silver, purple, green, red, blue and yellow. To dye, right click on the dye then left click on the piece of armour to be dyed. To remove the dye, right click on the dye remover then left click on the dyed armour to be 'cleaned'. The pieces of armour that can be dyed are as follows: Shield, Helmet, Top, Bottom, Gloves, Shoes, Shoulder Pads. Each dye can only be used for a piece of armour. Each dye costs 1250 cash while the dye remover costs 450 cash. (Considered expensive for a level 10 character) [Note writer is a member of a China legion participating in CBT2] |

Seven Themes of the Abyss
Chinese [Link for Korean site from the Chinese site is wrong >.> It gives an L2 site.] Feel free to download the video clips after each section on the site. They do give you a good insight as to the various Abyss themes. (I'm not sure if they're up here or anything though.. but the clips are in Korean though, so if it's not up, perhaps someone would like to translate it and upload it?) Fortress Battles There are nine Fortresses in Atreia. The Fortresses are located near important, strategic areas and the significance of Fortresses located closer to the centre of the Abyss is higher. The aim of players is to conquer these Fortresses enthusiastically and the means of conquering Fortresses differs significantly from sealing off the Fortress via a seal stone as in previous NCSoft games. In Aion, the means of conquering a Fortress is to defeat the Fortress Guardian located deep within each Fortress and the numerous rewards obtained on securing a Fortress will be the primary motivation for doing so. Fortress Protective Shield This shield was mentioned in an earlier article. Fortresses are protected by sturdy walls but they are open air, with one able to view the inner areas of the Fortress from the air. It should be noted that there is unlimited flying in the Abyss, hence each Fortress has a Protective Shield that prevents aerial assault. However, the protective shield runs on a power source within the Fortress, thus on breaching the Fortress walls, if one is able to destroy the power source (an energy stone), one can remove the shield and allow multi-directional attack of and entry to the Fortress, unrestricted by the placements of the walls. Fortress Defence & Fortress Gate Stone of Protection The initial defence of the Fortress revolves around its gates. There is a Stone of Protection within the inner hall of the Fortress that the defending side can continuously repair to increase the defence of the gate, causing more difficulty for the attackers. However, anything has its own weakness and the gate's weakness was a surprise in CBT3, siege weapons. It can be seen from the video clip that the siege weapon looks like an evolved form of the Spiritmaster's Fire Elemental. (Exact details have yet to be released) These siege weapons are a essential key to winning a Fortress battle. Fortress Guardian The Fortress Guardian is the last defence core of the Fortress and differs by race. Once the Fortress Guardian has been defeated, it indicates successful conquering of the Fortress. Once the attackers have brought down the defending Guardian, the Guardian will be regenerated as one of the attackers' race, and will continue to defend the conquered Fortress. Ancient Weapons There are many ancient devices left behind in the Fortress and these will be guarded by several powerful Guardians initially. On defeating these Guardians, one will be able to possess these weapons and they can be used during the course of battle. These ancient weapons possess powerful attacks or supporting buffs or can impede enemy movement to a large extent, allowing for an immediate advantage in the battlefield. (I'm really impressed and amused at the Polymorph skill and really like the idea of them engraving the legion's emblem on the weapon to denote possession.) Rebirth Point This is an automatic rebirth point that can be used freely within the Abyss, though there is a time limit. Hence on selecting an appropriate location for one's base and delegating the necessary protection, this will be a very useful tactic during any battle. Balaur Mothership Aside from the battle between the Elyos and the Asmodians, the greatest threat in the Abyss is the Balaur, with the Balaur Mothership that can carry and release Balaur being the most threatening. During normal circumstances, the Balaur Mothership will be drifting in the Abyss and players can attack the Mothership in the air. The Mothership also possesses powerful fire cannons that are able to deal fatal damage to any players that approach it.

Great work, tyl! Keep it up. This is valuable information, regardless of whether we've seen it on videos or not. Having it verified and confirmed is definitely crucial for the Wiki. Glad to have you on the team.
Now, we need some editors and supervisors to include the new information into existing articles. If they don't exist, create them.
